possible 2.3t/ford tech meet?
my ranger will be finished up in the next couple months or so, and i was wondering about the possibility of having a little 2.3t meet sometime when it's done. i know you guys have had pretty good luck with these in the past. maybe get a decent little cruise set up around thanksgiving or something. if there aren't enough of us, it could easily be opened to all of ford tech. would anyone be interested?

I'll bring the 1.9t out if you want to look at something really interesting under the hood

I've got two 2.3t's so the 1.9 won't help me much...but interesting is interesting.

Yeah. I would like to meet up again.
In the last year the Pinto has seen some patched wiring, swapped axles, broken diff, is on the third T-5, second motor, NPR intercooler, worn out a set of drag radials, three headgaskets on old motor, new shocks,a big crack in the header, just a down pipe, spun out and went backwards for about 100' on a wet back road without spilling a drop of coffee and about 25,000 miles. Its slower and uglier than ever!

I'm building an autocross mustang, and have the parts for a 302, but I came SOOOO close to buying a 2.3 turbo Capri in 1979 that I was thinking I might try that route.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, my suggestion is don't buy that 79 Capri motor.
Those are carbureted draw-thru turbo. They were lower HP than the EFI motors, have virtually no aftermarket support, and don't flow that well without lots of work.
FYI, a turbo 2.3 weighs about as much as a 302. They can be made lighter, but what does that do for your autocross class? If like like turbo's, do the 2.3, if you want to be competitive, stick with the 302.

A turbo 2.3 weighs a bit less then an aluminum headed 302. I personally don't mind matching up a 2.3t to a 302 till around 300/350 rwhp.

302 would be cheaper and way more dependable. and to make 300 hp with a 2.3 is not hard but the power is not linear. in other words you will be waiting on the boost to come on and when it does you better hope you are not in a corner. I love the 2.3 but for autocross 302 is way easier and lots of low end torque
