FYI - BBK SSI intake

We finally refreshed the 89'er with a sweet 347 and used the new BBK SSI intake.

IMO -
  • not a bad setup, a bit pricey even at wholesale, looks nice too!
  • comes now with their 75mm TB and crappy gaskets for upper
  • instructions are somewhat vague - Ford guys always survive this
  • NOTE - definately requires throttle bracket mod with tall V/Covers
  • you will also have to find a new home for large harness connections
  • they offer a heat reducing spacer, new #1530 - hard to buy still
  • good write ups so far from major 5.0 publications
Just thought we would share this info to maybe help someone. Sorry we have no personal comparison tech data ... our new 347 is a wild enough improvement over the E303 5.0 just replaced.

Bet you will like it anyway, just pricey!

any dyno comparisons? isnt this comparable to the performer and the street heat trick flow?

but lacks the upper revs compared to Performer RPM & RPM 2 ?

I'm curious..

Here we have a pretty complete article. Our car is my son's daily driver with intentions of keeping the OE block in one piece at 6000 rpm's. This package seems to continue pulling strong --- torquey bi-zitch!

BTW - He likes "how it looks". Good kid, when he's happy ... Hah!

you left out that it comes with the rails.

i bought the rails only from them and i could never get it to stop leaking from the base plate that the fuel regulator mounts on. i might need to send it back to BBK.

you have any problems with leaking on the rails?

It is a sharp looking intake. I know a guy who has one, but has yet to put it on.

More pics

More pics gents!

Yes, fuel rails do come with the intake (no leaks) and the 75mm TB is a good size air funnel. You can use their FPR, of coarse --- the hole enchilada.

Note the relocation on the BAP and main harness to FI harness connectors (bottom LH side of bracket photo). Also, had to hack away at the throttle bracket with the taller covers. If BBK had there act together, we could have a heat spacer under the upper and this would not be a problem area. This is part #1530 --- should have taken (stolen) it from their trailer at the NMRA meet in Bradenton, hah!

I want one as well just for the looks alone. Its about time we got something different other than the usual wrap over the valve cover style. Thanks for the info for sure!
