What road was it? I definetly wouldn't rule out calling the FDOT or the county/city (wherever it was) and checking about getting some cash.....

It probably fell off of a rock truck, I hate freakin' rock trucks, They dump crap all over the interstate, I replaced 3 windshields in one year driving between Wesley Chapel and St. Pete. They have hit cars, other trucks, fire trucks, ambulances, one of them went off the road up on 41 and hit a freakin' airplane. Rock trucks are the reason that I guarantee that UFO's and Sasquatch don't exist, if they did, a rock truck would've hit one by now.
