2.3 Turbo

just have general questions about my set up
i have a '93 hatch 4 cylinder that is not that exciting so i did some research and found out about the old turbocoupes and svo's etc...
well ive been slowely piecing together my setup right now i have a turbo coupe motor minus turbo and turbo manifold also a T3 and factory top mount and the turbo coupe fuel injectors, and large vane sensor
the block is in "fair" condition so in your guys experience should i replace the bearings and rods and rings? i plan to have it tanked and cleaned up, also i want to have the uper and lower intake manifold ported if any one has done this the easiest way to do this. also other setups that you have used i know the easiest way to get power is flow in and out of the motor plus upping the boost(i.e) manual boost controller, well all feedback is helpful

They'll probably move this to tech but here goes...

Sounds like you have a good start on a swap! I wouldn't really stay with a top mount if your hood isn't vented, a front mount is really the way to go if you are starting from scratch. You'll also need a computer from one of the later turbo cars to run with the injectors and VAM.

I would look long and hard at porting the head before you go after the intake. In my opinion it's just pretty much garbage stock and even after a little clean up it should flow much better. There is an old timer named Walt who has ported a bunch of these for circle track racing and I want to say he quoted me $280 for a full port job. If I was gonna port my head again, I would jump at having him do it, I looked like a coal miner for a week straight.

turboford.net... you can usually find anything you may need on the for sale forum / tech articles.. Also there are some other 2.3t owners on here that may chime in with extra parts they have for sale.

In regards to the quest for power.. I too found myself in those same shoes. I by no means am close to being "quick" however I can tell you that for the most part little tweaks go a long way with these motors.

Good Luck on the build..
