This will be my first thanksgiving without my family.

My mom moved back to Alabama, Dad does his own thing every year with his buddies.

Anyway, cool. I'll call Sonny's. I was wondering about them! Still need one just plain ol' baked one. Publix sells them, but in a whole dinner dealie. Not sure if that's what D wants. We're eating it at the track Wed. night.

3 minutes per pound.... Most of the fryers come with instructions about the birds. The most inportant thing to know is to make sure the bird is dry and NOT frozen! Either will cause bad things.... (experience is talking... ) Also, do not run the cooker any where near the house or anything else that can catch fire! Greese fires can get very nasty!!

I always try around 375, but it is a constant battle. When you first drop the bird, it will drop the temp way down, so I actually get it around 450 to drop it in. It will splatter, even with Peanut oil. That is why you want to be away from everything, plus the oil stays hot for a long time. Don't think you can pour it back into the containers and take it home that day. Also, if the wind is blowing enough, it also screws with your cooking temps.

Good tip for knowing how much oil to put in the pot, is to put the bird in and fill it with water. Then take the bird out. That will tell you where to fill the oil too, so the bird is coverd. Then dry the bird off, outside and inside!!!

I was kidding!

Topher, thanks for the offer, but..yeah..the husband wouldn't go for that. He's funny sometimes. He'd want to buy it from a store.

GNs..sorry..I forgot your name. Thanks! Me and Donald were just talking about that place last night! He was saying when he's in the Popeyes drive-thru with the window rolled down, all he smells is that awesome bbq next door and he starts second guessing why he's in line at Popeyes. lol
