Hello All,

New member from NPR, but spend most of my time in Tampa.

Originally from the Treasure Coast. but took a hiatus in Virginia for half my life.
While in VA, I got into SCCA SOLO racing and did alot of Track Days at VIR.
In those days I had a track ready Triumph Spitfire MkIII, and an Mk1 MR2 with a 20v 4age swap.
Also the area I lived in (Augusta County) Had lots of great mountain roads nearby.

I am now back in FL, sold the track cars a long time ago.
Currently just have a MB C55 AMG for a daily driver, with light mods. and the wife daily drives a SLK320, with no mods.
I am a gear head, and love wrenching on cars.

So that is me in a Hand basket (why is it so warm in here)

I ran autocrosses also and a few Solo II's. Pretty much everything these days is SCCA, or
BMWCCA with a few smaller clubs scattered around. At one time there were 20
clubs in the Tampa Bay area and they were import/autocross/sports car clubs.
Today there is some drag (cubic money) racing, but I'm more of a road course guy.

What sort of things did you do to the Spitfire to prevent the rear suspension from tucking
in the turns? Or was the MKIII more advanced than that? Was your car open or the GT?

The Spitfire was an open top with roll bar. I had the factory hardtop but never used it... I think I used it once to get to an event at VIR, because the car didn't have a softop and it was raining on the drive down.

As for the wheel tucking, I tried a bunch of things, even tried to fit and old Sway-a-way kit from a VW swing axle but the open axles didn't work very well with the parts that were designed to touch the vw axle tubes. I also did some limiting straps which I can't recall how they did... I guess I just got used to knowing where the limits were... I backed it into the weeds a few times though when I first started autocrossing it. My old long nose 911T was much less progressive at the limit than the Triumph though.

no, sorry I didn't know them. most my time in Richmond was spent working... it was when I went back to the valley is when I did more car stuff.
