You know that there are mandrel bends that you can cut down for those angles. No need to waste the time, wire and effort on that accordion looking piece.

your right, to an extent. only piping available in that diameter and wall thickness comes in a 9 0r 10 inch radius which is too big for what we are doing. so the bends would have to be pied.

it takes me about a half hour to build one pied 90, so conisdering the cost and time, its actually cost effective. not to mention the pies are at a 10 degree angle, so its pretty gradual.

this is the third 4" aluminum exhaust i've built and all of them are holding like a champ.

lastly, this exhuast weighs a lot less, is less expensive and unique.

sometimes doing things the hard way can be a good thing.

because they are chicken. its a little different and people get nervous doing new things (even though this has been done for probably 10 years now on race cars).
