Soon To Be Supra Owner!!!

I am really close to buying a TT Supra but I need some help.

I already called a couple of times and spoke to Jessi. He indicated that you guys do a diagnostic check for $35.99 and that it includes a compression test.

If that is the case then I would like to know how soon you guys can do this for me. Also, am I forgetting anything? Any suggestions?

BTW...I am trying to get this done soon because the car is listed on ebay and ending soon so I am trying to get the dealer to hold it for me pending an okay from a reliable shop. That is where DC comes in...

OOOooo....
eBay Motors: Toyota : Supra (item 300093682212 end time Mar-25-07 18:28:20 PDT)

Is this it?

I would get the dealer to do a Transmision flush and put fresh fluid if it's this auto.

Also, I can tell you that this supra was not in the "scene" It was owned by someone who traveled; I saw it many times sitting at the Tampa airport for weeks at a time for the last few years.

If you are planning on keeping it stock, you'll want to listen for the "death wine" from the turbo.

BEFORE you start the car the first time... don't let the dealer start the car for you. Open the hood and check to make sure that the engine is cold! Have someone start the car and check for white smoke from the exhaust. If it has white smoke, you'll have some barganing power and tell them "the turbo's are bad" or the "engine is fucked" to talk them down. In reality it's ust valve stem seals that need to be replaced (i believe it's around $800 to do this)

If it's this car, I believe it even has the stock intercooler...

Make sure they detail the lights for you!

If it's not this car... what car? Post a link.

And...post your # so they can get back to you or PM Kirk or Ian.

TAMPA BMW dealer... fuckers traded it in!!! Bastard! Get a sweet deal and join the MKIV crew!

Yeah... but I bet if he showed up with hard cash he might just get real lucky since they are not Supra experts. It does drop the value some that it's auto, but it's unmolested. If the #6 piston isn't fucked from recirculation that motor is good for 800 RWHP with more air and more fuel.

I'm thankful it's a targa or I would be visiting the dealer tomorrow with some cash and prolly divorce papers :-/

If it was a hardtop it would be worth an extra 5-10k

If it was stick it would be worth an extra 5-10k

Since it's stock it's worth an extra 2-5k

Since it's got the ugliest TAN interrior ever made for any fucking car it's only acceptable due to rear seat deletes, amazing $500 new rug kits (black) and nice black leather aftermarket seats. To the OP if you like the tan... to each his own.

Busted...Thats the one...

I started it cold and did not see any smoke. When I test drove it I did hear some kind of whine but I dont know if it was when I was slowing down or when the turbos were kicking in.

Thanks for the replies.

Definately take One of the DC guys with you. Most likely Kirk. Make sure you have a attach plan on good cop bad cop. Only one of you negotiates and the DC guy is strictly your mechanic...

If it's the death wine kirk will know it. it's a good thing as you'll get rid of the stock turbos pretty soon and I'm sure DC will do a good job of upgrading you.

GL!

If you think I can help in any way, feel free to call (813) 205-3456 - Daniel

I'll be out of town, but will be available on the phone.

P.S. I'm on my 3rd mkiv.

Since we can't get a hold of Kirk (you're phone is turned off) and he needs this car checked tomorrow, I'll be dusting off my compression tester guage and a couple of tools.

Update...

Let me start off by saying that pheobo is the man.

He met me at the dealer and took a look at the car for me. I am sure that everyone here knows how HUGE that is when it comes to getting a new/used car and you absolutely need someone with expreience to take a look.

That being said...I am trying to stick to my guns and hoping that once the ebay listing is said and done that the dealer will call me and beg that I buy the car from them.

A part of me is saying..."what the heck; call them up and make it happen!"

Another part is saying..."You have no business getting this car!!!"

So I am trying to meet in the middle and get the car but for a better price. LOL! I guess we will see in the coming hours/days.

The dealer is asking a higher price locally than they are on ebay, either way for what they are asking for it locally is still a fair price.
