Default How to survive a formula drift event

The new Formula Drift has just kicked off with an amazing round at Long Beach and I attended my first Formula D event, Formula Drift at Long Beach this past Saturday and I had a great time. Although there was some rain during the competition there was still a lot of tire shredding. Since this was my first Formula D event I have comprised a list of things that I learned and things you should look out for if you do (and I encourage you to go!).

[h=3]1. Check the Weather[/h]

Before heading out to the track, venue, etc, always check the weather for any rain. If the forecast says rain, bring a PONCHO not an umbrella. A poncho is way more portable and will not block anyone else’s view of the track or the big screen. Also if there is rain the drifting will SUCK, the drivers will drive really slow, there will no tire smoke, and it will be cold as balls on the seats.

[h=3]2. Keep Your Ticket Stubs[/h]
Sorry for the potato picture
If you want to get back to your seat after going to the bathroom, getting something to eat, or go see one of the booths, you need your ticket stubs. The security at these events are very strict and even to go into the grandstand area to watch, you need a ticket stub. Also, to get into your seat, you need your ticket stub.

[h=3]3. Be On The Lookout[/h]
There so many things to see at these events, everywhere you turn there will be something new to see. At Formula D Long Beach I saw many amazing cars, new products, got many cool gifts and free lanyards. But the best part was seeing Chris Forsberg’s Z.

And getting to meet Ryan Tuerk!!

He also signed my hat..

[h=3]Pack Your Own Lunch[/h]

The food here is fraacking EXPENSIVE!!!! One food truck was charging 12 DOLLARS for fries!!! It is so much better to save your money for things like: t-shirts, hats, keychains, and other things.

[h=3]4. Bring a Good Camera[/h]
This is one thing that I forgot, I only had my iPhone and didn’t take as good pictures that I would’ve like to. There are many things to take pictures of to cars and the crazy drift action. There were many fans clicking away and their cameras and they looked very good, make sure you get good pictures for your Facebook or Instagram! Below are some pictures that I took, sorry if they aren’t the best quality! I also didn’t take many because my phone died….

Going out to this event was sooo worth it, the tickets are relatively cheap and there was soo much to see. Congratulations to Chelsea Denofa for the win over Fredric Aasbo! Thanks for reading and sorry for any grammar mistakes!
