TRAP Does Drifting? we can.

Along with a typical selection of time trial and Open Track lapping sessions, I was thinking about including a drift competition into one of the future events I'm planing. one price gets you into the lapping session/DE event Time Trial and Drifting. It would have to be a little pricer then the average event since the drifting would require additional sanction. but if there is enough interest it might be something I can pull off. since I can't imagine a Whole day of DE at Ocala to be the much fun. but a Drift, Auto cross and time trial would really test different drivers talents.

how many Drift participants could I expect I think $90 is fair for a full day of track time. and 3 events?

good, The participation numbers will determine the budget since we've never done the logistics behind a drifting event but I am excited to get every one out on track. if we can get 2 sessions of 20 drivers we might be able to pull this thing off. that should give everybody 2-3 DE CW+CCW sessions and time for 3 competition events.

Shinmei are you registered for the rally? we are at 10 registered right now (2 days since I opened online registration) so I expect the event to be sold out pretty quick.

I have been thinking Ocala Speedway, Ocala Grand Prix is too small for a open track day. (there is no room to pass) to be honest it's narrow for a good drift competition the speedway can support 10 cars at a time on track by using the back straight and the infield cut it will make a decent roval. with the back straight a designated passing zone.

10 cars 4 DE sessions Solo, instructors group one, and two. if we play our cards right everyone can get close to 1 hour of drivers ed and a time trial run at lunch 1 morning session and one afternoon session. and designate 2 hours for a double elmination Drift event. at the end.

been there, its fun... but I'm not sure you're going to find people paying 90$ to do another oval for drifting. not to mention the center X has like cement ramps for the drainage sewer pipes. the trioval is very fun to drift the long turn though.

ocala speedway drifting (i think is correct link, im at work so cant check) >>

Keep in mind this would be a multi discipline event. 1 hour of open track lapping, with instructors, a time trial once everyone has some laps in (3 laps All out best time wins) and a possible drift event (or an auto cross if the drifters aren't into it) so $30 per event seems reasonable.

instead of running 1 hour open let the whole hour be the time attack? the timers would be hella busy but i think it makes more since then doing that then running 3 laps, cuase if you run 5 or more back to back your going to be pushing some serious times compaired to 3 timed runs...just my thoughts

great Idea but there can only be 2 or so cars on course during the time trial. there should be as little or no passing (that would throw off the timers) if all the cars were on the track going all out that would be a road race. and then everyone would have to have roll cages and real race cars. that is what I'm trying to avoid.

a typical time trial is 3 laps combined. it keeps drivers within their limits because a spin ruins their time.. dead stop to finish 3 laps is your time. it's a little more challenging.
