97 nissan pickup.

i want to make this my project. but i dont know where to begin. anybody know anything about what it takes to make a truck slide. im not sure how to approach truck suspension or if i could even get it stiff enough ( <-- lol. grow up) to not roll over. any suggestions? is it possible to put an SR in the truck?

yes it is very possible to sr the truck...you need to keep that ass end light so it doesn't hook up...as far as sliding, haven't seen it done yet, but to the sr part yes its been done successfully...g/l it would be quite the eye turner at the track to see it drifting...!!!!

The Rb and SR are supposed to be somewhat of an easy drop in... Basically different motor mounts and drive shaft and some finicking with the wiring harness..

They has been several mitsubishi mighty max trucks that had the 4g63T swap out of the 2nd gen GST eclipse and they proved good sliders as long as ur ass end is light and stays that way...

there has been both a rb25det powered nissan truck and a rb26dett powered datsun truck. both were drift trucks and there was a 99 nissan with a ca18det and an early 90s nissan with a sr20det, built for drift/drag. So it can be done. If your truck has a ka24de It would be VERY easy to swap a CA or SR into it.

SR swaps in hardbodies are a PITA, a 97 might not be so bad.

Stock final drive ratio of a truck will feel like plenty of power once decent-sized wheels and tires are mouted. 2 main issues with drifting trucks are the lack of weight over the rear wheels and the flimsyness of the 2-channel frame. Moving the fuel tank as far back as possible will help a little on the weight balance side, and adding some serious stiffening to the stock frame will help the torsional rigidity (and I mean more than just a rollcage).
