The reason why you hear this most likely is because the 6 spd is more noteably used with top end cars as opposed to drifting. Unless your car is a monster you shouldnt worry about it "breaking" other than the typical bullshit you go through with trannys.
There's nothing wrong with sliding with your setup, buttt....a good idea would be to take it out,sell it since its worth more and "rarer?" than a 5spd, and do the bellhousing swap with a ka trans.
If your more focused on drifting rather than a "top end" or going fast in a straight line car then the availability and inexpensiveness of the ka w/sr bellhousing swap will do perfect for what you want/need and you'll have money left over to spend on other mods that will help you drift as opposed to a 6 spd trans.-Julien

yes, the 2nd gen is also a good car. Very similar/almost identical in many ways.
