FWIW, went to BMP last Thurs and the head staging guy didn't see me after I staged. Ran 12.6 and the guy at the ticket booth said "Immediatley head to the front of staging" ???? I asked the what did I do? He just said he did see my Helmet. So needless to say they're crackin down on safety. -Mark

I believe BMP is an IHRA track so some of you all can get away with a little more...im just happy 11.49 is the roll cage requirement instead of 11.99

Look below all of the boxes in the above link, it references the IHRA rules for every category.

Yeah, a roll cage has no place in a street car, well, I wouldn't want one in any car I would be using for any practical purposes, too. What are these "competition licenses" they mention, though? It says IHRA tracks require them?Originally posted by Sneakin Deacon

Competition licenses are required for 9.99 at NHRA and 9.49 (i believe) at IHRA sanctioned tracks. Basically 6 passes have to be made proving you can handle the car at these speeds and faster.
They also require a full physical to be had within 30 days of getting the license.
As for the roll cage comment, my feeling is that if you have your car going that fast you need the cage. It's only there for your saftey.I am your penalty.....

Consider yourself lucky, just do not be pissed if they boot you off one day.

Okay what is the story on T-topped cars? I have heard about BMP treating them just like a convertable as far as the rules go. I would think that they would be considered a hard topped car as long as the T-tops are installed.

nhra has required a roll bar for anything 11.99 or quicker for years but also I was told if it has a roll bar cage you have to have harness reguardless how fast it is so if your car runs 14.00 and has a roll bar you must have a harness. and if your car is fast a roll bar is a good idea I have 2 friends that have crashed at over 100 miles per hr. both had cages and both are still racing.both went to the hospital for several days but no doubt it saved their lives. ask yourself does your car go 100 on a pass.

Then why the hell did they give me so much guff last Sat. ? Said I needed a jacket and 5 point for anything faster than 12.49. I was only running 12.20 's
They were cracking down hard though. I wanted to squeeze, but was looking forward to staying for the bracket racing later that night. They were cracking down left and right. I should have just squeezed and left. I made it to like the quarters or semi's and didn't make it to the line fast enough on the final round and was DQ'd.Torque is something you build for,HP is something you lie to your friends about. And just because you drive it around the block," DOESN"T MAKE IT A STREET CAR."

believe it or not, t-tops are pretty weak, but the reason they want you to have a roll bar and wearing a helmet is 1, glass breakage, 2, you wont get your lid peeled back if you roll it. it only takes a blow out or dropping a ball joint to flip a car.Originally posted by Gunslinger09
