??? on motor swap

ok well i drive a 420a eclipse, and i was reading up on how 420a neons are swaped with the 2.4 turbo PT cruser/srt4 motor. and wanted to know if anyone knows if this same swap would work on my eclipse? and what would need to be done?

no, the neons dont have 420a's, they have similaritys but u cant swap the 2.4 into ur eclipse w/o major mods,

the neon motors head is better designed and is opposite of the 420a(the header in the back and intake mani in the front)

the a588 is the chrysler engine code for the very similar 420A. The head is on backwards in the eclipse, because the intake is normally on the front. You could do the swap but it would not be something to do over the weekend.

no u cant, ur a dumbass, they have totally different mounts and you would have to custom fab everything. its just like putting a 4g63 into a neon, it calls for alot custom fab work.

^wtf are u talking about installing a clutch? i was selling a clutch, and no i havent tryed it but its pretty apparent, theres different mounts, different axles, its from a completely different car manufacturer(s/p), its like the 4g63 thing, it can fits but it involves alot of custom fab. and its not worth the work.

Go on 2gnt and they will tell you why you can't swap a Neon motor into an Eclipse, so if that isn't possible I don't see how an SRT-4 motor is possible.

It's not a matter of trying it out, its a matter of successfully accomplishing it and being able to keep it running and driving. As far as I am aware of no one has done an SRT-4 swap into the Eclipse and no one has accomplished it successfully.

People ask all the time on 2gnt about the SRT-4 engine or the PT cruiser... those threads get locked and redirected. There's a reason to all of it.

It hasn't been done, not saying it can't be done. But if your going to go through all that work of fabbing and blowing money for a car that weighs more then an SRT-4 its not worth it. Might as well buy an SRT-4.

I bought a motor (srt-4)for a guy for orlando. He pulled it for his 2g n/a eclipse. He used 2.4 stratus mounts and an adapter kit. The motor was in his car. I never said it was an easy swap. Calling people names is uncalled for. I just answer this guy's question. All I said was it fits.
