stalling
so my car constantly stalls at idle. after it warms up it can sit and idle. but when driving it once i go into neutral for a red light or even in traffic it will stall out unless i give it a little extra gas to keep the rpm's over 1k, and suggestions on why it keeps stalling. some say it is because of the cams.

well i guess the car was in a good mood tonight because it didnt stall once. im probally going to do a full tune up on it this weekend and see if that helps. also originally the car had the breather on the head cover plugged(one that went from the cover to the intake pipe) maby its a small vac problem....seems like ill have some investigating to do this weekend

I wouldn't rule out the fuel pump either. But those vacuum lines are a good start. Be careful and spray some carb cleaner or something on the lines, and around the thottle body and see if the idle picks up.
If you don't want a mess, take a unlit propane torch, crack it open a little and point it around the lines, TB and intake where they mate. Sould have same results. Last edited by Dano Moparo : 02-23-2006 at 12:25 AM. |

if anything a vacuum leak will generally cause your car to idle at a higher speed, not a lower one, try this, you have 2 plugs on your TB, the TPS and the ISC, on a DOHC neon the TPS sensor connector sits pointing toward the passenger side of the car, while the ISC is on the back side of the TB(back side being the side closest to the head) unplug your ISC, your car should immediatly idle at 3000RPM if it is working correctly, if it takes longer than 10 seconds for it to reach the high idle speed, I would replace the ISC
