You are correct. It's quite easy to do. just put a bucket under your car where the T-stat is, becasue you are going to leak a shitload of coolant. All you have to do is take out the 2 black bolts, and remove the t-stat, then use the stock gasket, and put it back in, then refill coolant. I think it took me like 15 minutes max.

actually if you use a hose clamp tool on hose from the rad to thermo housing you wont loose more than a few ounces of coolant. make sure you purge the system after you install the stat.
now on the temp gimmick, some reasons your motor needs to run at a ceratin temp is for the material that the block and such is made of. its kinda hard to explain but at ceratin temps metal becomes more "slick", oil temp, and lots of other reasons. but in reality you may have a 180 stat but the car still runs around 190 so watch out 10 degrees is gonna kill your motor. but you also dont want to go to cold. another thing you might want to do is the fan switch mod. hope i explained it good im sick as hell so it might not make sense Last edited by HMCK20 : 02-17-2006 at 04:53 PM. |

I hope you meant to say 10 degrees ISN'T gonna kill your motor cause I did it already and I only lost a couple ounces cause I wore some gloves I have for yard work and just pulled the hose off and tilted it up as quick as possible and didn't lose much at all just what was in the housing. It was easy and took me a total of about 15 minutes tops thanks for everyones help it's much appreaciated.
