Rattling noise

Does anyone with an SRT experience a rattling noise that seems to be coming from the dash when you're building boost? I'm convinced it's the needle on the boost guage but my wife doubts me and she says it's bugging the shit out of her and she wants it fixed. If anyone has experienced this or thinks it's something other than the boost guage lmk.

I've heard of boost gauge problems with them in at least the '03, not sure if they ever worked it out or not. Other that that, welcome to owning a Neon.

No it's not a DSM... j/k You might be right cause when we took it to get the oil changed the guy said we were a qt low but it didn't sound like rod knock at all so that makes me question it. It sounded too fast to be rod but then again I don't know I've never actually heard rod knock and we only use 93 octane so what would cause rod knock if that's what it was? The low oil?

It shouldn't be rod knock, you'd have to be running the piss out of it to have it already knocking. I've run a quart low on my oil before, and never heard it knock. Trust me, it's a Neon, it makes weird rattles and noises, it's not a $40k luxury car.

It's not the engine I found out it's definitley in the dash and I'm about 99.9999999% sure it is the boost guage rattling, but thanks for your help guys much appreciated.

And yeah Btownrt I agree with you an 05 with 8000 miles shouldn't have any engine knocks or tapping or anything. And like you said it's a neon it will make weird noises.

Actually you could have 1k and have the motor rattling. They dont put A+ parts in all the cars they make. Thats why they color code everything. Green means no problems. Yellow means Slight problems and red means 50/50 could break anyday. Working at my cousins shop a guy who worked at saturn for 10 years came up to me and told me that. I dont know what blue means but my 01 mercury has blue and green in it.
