HP doesnt matter, its torque that counts...260ft lbs before they snap like twigs(or bend anyway)

how much torque do you think this will make?

12.5-1 je pis
pnp head
pnp intake mani, with 90 degree bend taken out
tti long tube headers
# 18 crane
crane springs
megasquirt 2
ud pulley
fand. lightweight fly
act 2600 clutch
decked head .10
60mm throttle
cai
msd ign.

off and on 100 shot
no p/s

im pretty sure new stock rods will hold without spray but will they hold with it? or should i not even take the chance?

they will hold fine without...they will snap like twigs with it...though some people claim otherwise I wouldnt take the chance...might as well get some eagles for your peace of mind, you might be able to get 300HP out of the rods(because HP doesnt actually exist)...but I would love to see dyno proof of a stock 2.0 holding more than 260ft lbs for more than a few passes, if you want a chance of it breaking at an inconvienent time, stay stock...otherwise dont cheap out for $350 rods and risk an engine that looks like its costing thousands

yeah thanks i didnt think they would hold the bottle. how much hp and or 1/4 time do you think my set up will get me? it will be dyno tuned. think i can get 12's, without the spray. i am getting all the other stuff for this car like mounts, bobble strut, coilovers, ect... any ideas one something i may have missed?

i found this site that sells eagle rods for this car new for 299.99

kapenna, i was wondering i see alot of stuff on the block/engine side but aside from the clutch dont you think it would be wise to invest in the tranny/driveline? is the car stock as far as interior/body mods go because if it is not you want to take the car's overall weight in consideration when thinking about your setup. Heavy car + decent power + weak stock axles = snap snap.

get that thing to way under 2000 and u'll never snap one.i've only snaped one axle in my life and that was because one tire in sand and the other on road and i was runnig from the piggys.2nd gen axles are alot stronger though.

heh, I never snapped an axle either...and while my setup was pushing a good 240ft lbs too...even launched from 4k RPM a couple times...but its repeated drag launches that kill axles...just roll into it and you're good to go....unless you like 7k RPM drag launches...then yes you'll need them

thanks ive got about 2600 into this engine so far the body looks like hell and the interior is full so im am stock weight still. havent finished this build yet, still finding out things before i put it together. im doing this car the right way.ive considered the axles already so untill i can afford them im going with shit ass tires so that if i get under to much load they will just break loose.
anyways any ideas on times or hp for this setup?

w/ no bottle? you might be pushing 200 or so...hard to tell really, I wouldnt count on any more than that anyway...if I were you though I would have gone with a 2.4L block...better base..either turbo or NA...with 18s a 2.4 would be a beast...but the #1 reason for 2.4 is torque....30ft lbs more than a 2.0 stock for stock, no reason not to unless you have already bought internals...if you have...trade them for 2.4 pistons and build a 2.4 instead, I guarantee you would be more happy with the results, with 200HP you should be able to pull off a low 14 I think...maybe a 13.9 if you are very lucky

yeah i had thought about the 2.4 swap but didnt feel that for just 30lbs of tq was worth the effort, and also in the end what would be the difference in the finished product between the 2.0 and 2.4 using the same parts? i already got the internals je pistions, eagle rods, main and rod bearings, rings, oilpump. so i already spent the money for the 2.0
