srt's are just neons

i dont know why im posting this but im tires of people saying their car is different.my friend has an 04/05(not sure year)srt and claims it is an srt-4 and not a neon. i laugh and ask if the srt-10 is not a viper or modded ram. it seems a few people here try too say they ont drive a neon but they do drive a srt-4. i found some pictures on line that were kinda funny to show srt-4 are just neons with factory bodykits and factory modded engine, so basically there factory fast rice mobiles. the similarties are close, watch out for the sohc srt-4 look alikes out there
here is a stock neon

here is the same neon with a stock srt bumper

this thing looks good but if you can tell or not,its not an srt. i found it on another site and he says it has 400+hp and its a sohc

i also found that with a 1st gen and new srt-4 there are many similarties such as:
complete turbo kit fits(mani,dp,cat, exhaust with minor fab around rear "hump" section)
-ignition wire harness.
-hot pipe fits turbo and fits under motor perfect if tranny mount is removed.
-front/rear seats fit perfect
-rims
-shifter
-center consel as long as you also use an srt e-brake handle

Just some general info so a few of the srt people know a little more info about there cars.

the point is "its still a neon" I could bolt about 90 percent of any SRT parts to my 98 neon(or any other neon for that matter), the owners manual is full of crap, its a neon...a fast neon, but a neon none the less, no the point he is trying to make is that SRT owners in general(far from all of you) but in general act like they are too good to hang out with the non-SRT owners, IE...there is a statewide neon meet...and a seperate and different SRT 4 meet(not that there arent a lot of cool SRT owners, but sadly enough we are now getting a lot of technically clueless reformed hondaphiles, cause its now cool to drive a SRT4(still not cool to drive a neon though))

Yeah exactly so what, yeah it's a neon, big f-in deal . A Cobra is still a Mustang, I don't get your point. I think you're just jealous that your friend has an SRT-4 and you only have a neon . This crap has been going on since the SRT-4 came out, posts like these are nothing new. We don't care if you call it a neon, we actually like saying "you just got beat by a neon", it has a good ring to it .

That's kinda bothered me for years. I work at a dealer and people would come in to get say floor mats. I'll say something like "what year is your Neon?"and I get "its an srt-4"! Big fucking deal, like I insulted them or something. People with Wranglers do the same "no its a Rubicon" not a Wrangler again BFD! Much of the SRT models is different than the run of the mill Neon, but c'mon they are in the same catalog, so its a Neon. Get over it.

the point you ask? well most/all neon owners were flamed for owning them. far before any srt-4 was intorduced 2.4L turbo into 1st gens was very common but it didnt matter because it was a neon. now that the factory mass produced the same thing it is "cool" to have, no one really flames a srt-4 because it is "not a neon".hey CobraSpdRH im jealous because my friend has an srt-4 and i have a neon? wrong, there the same thing if you were listening. The only way i would drive an sr-4 is if i got it for free, i still like the 1st gen's more than anything. people like saying you got beat by a neon but at any car show they are srt-4's. Also at the last car show that i was at there were probally 5/6 srt-4's and i had the only 1st gen neon. But my point is that even over a few different gen's of neons there are still tons of similarties, but people like to think there nothing alike. To me the factory calls it an srt-4 because in general in the "race" scene neons dont have a good name. Maby they decidd to come up with a new slogan/name for it to get people to chance from the imports to the domestic market and it worked. how many people that now own srt-4's owned a neon before it?

I owned a 420A Eclipse, which is pretty much a pretty neon. I had cams and all the bolt ons and was planning a 2.2 high compression rebuild when my tranny died again and I had a baby coming and needed a family car. Grabbed a Corolla for a while since the SRT-4's weren't going to be out for 6 - 8 more months. Glad I waited past the 03's and got an 04 with an LSD. I like my fast neon family car.

that reminds me, many srt parts are stamped with the mitsu logo. i know the o2 housing is. in your case the neon fits all your needs it is a fast 4-door car that can be used for a family daily driver and a weekend at the drag strip

i was looking at them the other day, and on the window it clearly states "neon srt-4" its just a badge. like the civic SI. SI is just a badge, just a model. so srt-4 is just the best "model" neon.
