theres only 2 ways to really boost the performance of a NA 4 cylinder, 1. massive engine work, and 2, turbocharging, both of which are really expensive and probably beyond your budget...however if your only looking for low 15 second 1/4 mile times, they can be achieved with a 3.0L intake from a dodge caravan, a header of some type(plus whatever exhaust you like), some solid or semi solid motor mounts and an underdrive pulley(this all assumes you have a 5 speed, ifyou havean auto your SOL)

dam, i just sold my nitrous kit. it is made for only a neon. good for up to 100 hp, now that would have woken up your car. i have a pasesetter dual exhaust muffler i will sell with trade of your stock one, its good for a couple hp, but sounds good (good=not loud and raspy but deep and mild loud). ebay is a good spot for parts but neons.org you can occasionally find good used parts cheap. i got my full bodykit(xenon) 300-new over 900, msd coil 20 new about 60, export signals 26 usually about 75-100, you can get anything there from parts to great info. i saved tons o money posting problems on there and the paople were able to trouble shoot it and i found out all my problems. the site has pages of tech info about neons and stages to peform for best results-ill see if i can fint the page.

here is a link

here

-instead of spending 200 for an iceman do what josiah said a 3.0 tube and hacksaw to the battery tray is just as good.the older sohc had a really weird intake system

-muffler the choice is yours, you could be like most people and cut there muffler off and weld on a big fart can

side note-my exhaust sucks the inside of the tips are rusted away and they wont do anything about it. it loks and sounds good but once i clean all the carbon off there are rust holes in the tips. but i would also let it go cheap

-for the exhaust mani i dont suggest pasesetter, there quality is poor.

-for a throttle body if your car is an mtx you can upgrade to a atx throttle body which is a few mm bigger

-msd coil and wires arent really that good, the coil is said to be just a tad better than stock but not enough to be worth the money. bigger wires could help a bit.

-turbo kit- you could but a full kit for over $2-3K or piece one together. i have one still in planning. ive been building it for about a year but also took that long to get the best prices and in the end will spend less that $1K.

-weight reduction- its free(unless you go crazy and get fibergalss doors/hood/trunk etc.)

theres my .02
