There is more to it than just a roll bar. It should be braced so as not to fold
or rip out the floor if you really need it.
The guy who would do mine is in Wesley Chapel, builds 'em for race cars,
and would put in a bar that would stiffen the chassis as well as protect your skull.
You might as well get a performance advantage as well as safety.
You might be able to get one built that you could unbolt and put in your next car.
You might also try TR's shop forums. Or pm me and I will look up his phone number.
The company is Creative Motorsports the owner is Ted Kempgens. I don't know if
he has a website.-Bob---- on-site *Aftermarket* spring/suspension installations --- on-site impact wrenching---street lowering with your own stock springs...........
Much more at Bob's Garage!

If you want "cheaper than Hard Dog", try searching for Autopower. It won't fit quite as nicely as a HD, but they are a bit cheaper.
edit: And why didn't you bother asking on the local Miata forum first?

haha idk, i think i just spaced out one day and posted this and forgot about doing the same on tbm, but i mainly need a main hoop bent, and then ill do the rest to save myself the money. I know how to weld just not how to bend or measure bend angles and such.

If you're going to DIY (or even if you're not), consider what events you might compete in with the car and be sure to study their rules. The type of tubing, diameter, thickness and type of steel is all important to designing a roll bar that will both offer the best margin of safety and meet the specific requirements of various rule sets.
That's one of the benefits of HD. Their bars w/ diagonals are built to SCCA specs. Good for pretty much anything that doesn't require a full cage.
