I've never seen anyone heat the springs and have them come out even.

If all they do is heat them, the coils are still there, but too close to each other, and hit each other when compressing. I can measure spring rates
and heated springs are not consistant, even though they may be the same height.

Plenty of cars have cut coils, and I have cut several after I carefully measured, but if a person doesn't know how to measure the suspension, or doesn't understand how the suspension works, most people mess it up.

I can show you pictures of my car lowered 3" with cut coils without the springs flopping around, without the suspension getting beat up, without blowing out the shocks, and without the tires being eaten. but I did some careful measuring before I cut the coils.

A spring that is too short is what messes up the suspension as mentioned above, and it doesn't matter if you spent $300 for a spring that's too short, or if you made your own springs too short by some other method.

In addition to careful measuring before I cut springs,

I also install aftermarket springs for people.

Those people who think that hard springs will keep a too-short spring from bottoming, are losing grip in the turns.

I can demonstrate the difference in grip with my own car.-Bob
