The Medina-based company’s announcement Monday will not affect Polaris’ fast growing Indian Motorcycle brand or other divisions, officials said. CEO Scott Wine said the “winding down” of the Victory brand will begin immediately. “Victory has struggled to establish the market share needed to succeed and be profitable. The competitive pressures of a challenging motorcycle market have increased the headwinds for the brand,” Wine said in a statement.

Victory’s share of the motorcycle market slid to just 2 percent last year, from 3 percent in 2013. Wine said the company decided to focus on the Indian brand given its strong performance and growth potential and the significant additional investments that would be necessary for Victory to succeed. Polaris will help dealers liquidate existing Victory inventory and will continue to supply parts and service for 10 years and honor warranty coverage accordingly.

I do not regret one bit getting my Victory Vision. Will last for a very long time. Folks are way over thinking this. One of the top dependable bikes on the market last few years running. I use the example of the older gold wings. Still around and do just fine.

As you have probably heard since filming this Polaris owns Indian and they stopped the Victory line because they felt to many people where skipping buying an Indian and buying a Victory because the where cheaper bikes. If this is true or not I am not sure if they did it for this reason it makes no sense when there are so many companies out there making bikes that compete ending their one brand that is cheaper than an Indian makes no sense it actually would only only hurt their sales in the long run?!

Actually, it was the other way around. It was Indian that was cannibalizing Victory sales. When Polaris purchased Indian they estimated that 3-5% of Indian purchases would be gleaned from their Victory marquee because they are completely dissimilar markets. Retro V Jetsons. That number, in reality, proved to be 30%. They were devouring their own tail in pursuit of the flea. They decided to cut off the tail to save the body.

Polaris will continue to supply parts to support Victory motorcycles for 10 years, and the company “will assist dealers in liquidating existing inventories.” Victory built a loyal following of owners and I feel these owners have been abandoned not to mention product devaluation with the announcement of discontinuance, which hurts smaller competing motorcycle manufactures and future sales by these companies, after all would you like to own a Buell? Honda still makes parts for my 17 year old Valkyrie even though they have not been required to produce OEM replacement parts for it for over four years. (2003 being the last one made ,which parts will fit my 2000 model) The move to shutter Victory comes at a time when Indian Motorcycle is on a big upswing in visibility and product cadence. I personally would not buy from a company with this type of business model. I enjoy your channel...
