i took it to my mechanic and he said not to sweat it too much.. just keep watching it...ive been riding on it for atleast a week. its hard to replace a tire when you bought it less than 6 months ago. ( i can't remember when i put it on ) Somebody mentioned that if i contact the manufacture of the tire and let them know. maybe it is under warranty or somthing. I doubt it, but its worth checking..
The rest of you guys who are bashing....thanks....if it was an old tire or a crack in the side wall id replace immideatly. but i dont think this is a big deal. my mechanic said it did have a chance to split open...but it should be fine.
sell my bike???? your an a**hole. I think you should sell yours..i ride this beast 50+ miles a day. she would miss me.L-O-V-E L-I-F-E

take a really sharp knife and follow the cut mark around the whole tire. so then it's not just one area that has the cut and has all the pressure on it but the whole tire will. also if it pops the whole tire will explode off the rim and then you'll just ride on the rim for a few instead of 1 area of the tire blowing and the tire still being attached which could cause some serious damage.

Your a FOOL to think your tire is worth more then your life or your bike, which you are putting at risk to continue being a cheap ass. If you crash because the tire deflated how much money have you saved, yeah here's your sign. Your tire is defective there shouldn't be anything looking like, near or similar to in anyway a "cut" "crack" or "tear" a tire with damage like you are describing is a game ender period. By all means explorer getting the tire covered by the manufacture but not changing it because "it should be ok" is a stupid move..
And just so we are clear you did post a question and ask for advice, sorry I gave you some you didn't want to hear but its free advice on the internet so you got pretty much what you paid for.Deals gap 318 turns in 11.5 miles. Florida 318 miles with 11 turns.

some of you guys are hilarious. and other are taking me for some jack arse. Yes im asking for your advice.. your serious advice.. I understand how important my tires are. The cut in my tire isn't that bad. its NOT a stale crack or tear or rip or anything. I will end up replacing my tire sooner than usual. has anyone even had this happen to them? a cut in the middle of the tred. most research I do on google talks about side wall crack/cuts and other major issues.

Sorry the truth pains you so. I promise what was said in this thread will be less painful then when you get tossed on your noggin for riding on a damaged tire. And to answer your question I did have this same thing happen to me on an 05 gsxr 750 there was a cut in the middle of the tire that looked like I slit it with a knife, when I saw the cut I parked the bike and bought a new tire. Why you may ask? Well its simple crashing sucks and the tire was 1/3 of the cost that insurance would have been should I actually crash, so I figured no brainer. You probably ran over something sharp riding around but if you are worried enough to ask you should be sensible enough to just replace it.

You're like one of those women who does the opposite of what's right just to drive men insane.
You come on here for advice, not ONE person seriously says to ride it out so that's exactly what you decide to do regardless of the catastrophic results. You say it's grown but somehow it's going to magically stop because you decided it was OK? Is that right? Any of this sinking in?
