Biker down...dead

TAMPA - A motorcyclist riding without a helmet died Thursday night when his motorcycle hit a minivan turning onto W Hillsborough Avenue, police said.

Willie E. Carnley, 46, of 2126 W Grace St., was traveling east on Hillsborough near 39th Street at 10:05 p.m.

Sandra H. Stewart of Zephyrhills was pulling out of a parking lot onto Hillsborough.

The motorcycle hit the driver's side of the minivan, and Carnley was thrown onto the pavement, according to a police report.

Carnley suffered "massive head injuries," officers said, and was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital.
