Dirk Muller follows up last June's victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans by winning GTLM in the No. 66 Ford GT, while Michael Christenson gives Alegra Motorsports its second Rolex 24 class victory in GTD.

Under caution for the 20th time with one hour remaining in the Rolex 24. Seven cars are on the lead lap in GTLM and six in GTD - with most of them pitting under the caution. Only contender to stay out is Laurens Vanthoor (912 Porsche), with James Calado (62 Ferrari) beating Dirk Muller (66 Ford) off pit road. Michael Christensen is first out in GTD in the No. 28 Alegra Porsche. ... On the following lap, Vanthoor pits to return Calado to the lead.

Yellow flag for debris from the No. 93 Acura, which lost its radiator ducting on the speedway. The big winner could be the second-place No. 5 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R driven by Filipe Albuquerque who pitted and completed the stop seconds before the caution. Race leader Ricky Taylor in the No. 10 WTR Cadillac will need to pit under yellow and will likely lose a considerable amount of track position.

Ricky Taylor stalks Filipe Albuquerque for the overall lead and throws his No. 10 WTR Cadillac down the inside--with inches to spare--entering the Bus Stop and somehow manages to stay off the grass. Third-place Rene Rast pits the No. 90 VFR Riley/Multimatic and hands over to Marc Goossens who will take the car to the finish.

Under caution, the two lead Cadillacs enter pit road side by side. Filipe Albuquerque remains in the second place No. 5, while Ricky Taylor takes over for his brother. As a result, the Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi comes off pit road first - but is still running second as Rene Rast remained on the course in the No. 90 Riley/Multimatic. All four Fords and the lead Corvette pit in GTLM, giving the class lead to the No. 62 Ferrari of Giancarlo Fisichella. In GTD, the No. 33 Mercedes of Jeroen Bleekemolen is now leading, followed by Andy Lally in the No. 93 Acura. Lally is a five-time class winner of the Rolex 24. Only Scott Pruett (with 10) and Hurley Haywood and Peter Gregg (six each) have more.
Back to green with 1h39m remaining. Albuquerque goes to the high side entering the banking to pass Rast and take the lead.

Jordan Taylor stays at the wheel of the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi during a round of green-flag pit stops, while Filipe Albuquerque took over for Christian Fittipaldi in Action Express Racing's No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi, while Rene Rast stayed in Riley/Multimatic.
As a result of going for the triple stint, Taylor stretched his advantage to 19.462 seconds with two hours remaining; Rast is 1m26.269s back in third.
The 19th caution waved at the 22 hour mark when Sam Bird pulled to a stop at the inside of Turn 6, the entrance to the superspeedway banking. The team reported the engine let go with no warning. He was running second in GTD in the No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari, with the class now led by Jules Gounon in the No. 29 Montaplast by Land-Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3. Joey Hand led GTLM by 11.103s over Giancarlo Fisichilla (62 Ferrari).

Another drive though the pack for the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE, as Giancarloi Fisichella passes the Fords of Harry Tinknell (69) and Billy Johnson (6 to take third in the class. Joey Hand (66 Ford) leads the class by 4.720s, with Fisichella 6.115s back. Sam Bird leads GTD in the No. 63 Scuderia Corsa 488 GT3.

A sizzling battle resumes with 2h06m with Jordan Taylor leading fellow Cadillac driver Christian Fittipaldi. Pit stops changed the GTLM leaders, with Joey Hand (66 Ford) now leading Mike Rockenfeller (3 Corvette) and Billy Johnson (68 Ford).

At the 21-hour mark, the top three Prototypes remain on the lead lap. All three stopped with just over three hours remnaining, with no driver changes. Jordan Taylor (10) leads Christian Fittipaldi (5) by 10.411s, with Rene Rast (90 Riley) .

The 18th caution flag waved at 11:33 a.m. to retrieve bodywork from a backstraight incident involving the No. 81 DragonSpeed Oreca of Ben Hanley, who continued to the garage. He was running fifth in class at the time.

Shades of 1966, Ford battling Ferrari for the lead at Daytona. Joey Hand regains the lead in GTLM in the No. 66 Ford GT, passing James Calado in the No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTE at start/finish.
Trent Hindman spins the No. 26 BAR1 Motorsports Oreca exiting Turn 1; he is running second in PC, although 18 laps down. That brings out the 17th full-course caution. Jorday Taylor was leading Christian Fittipaldi by 1.143s and Rene Rast by 1.466s at the time of the incident.

Back to green with 3h34m remaining and 551 laps completed in the Rolex 24. Jordan Taylor (10) leads fellow Cadillac driver Christian Fittipaldi (5), with Rene Rast third and on the lead lap in the No. 90 Multimatic/Riley. The No. 2 Nissan, now driven by Pipo Derani, is one lap down but must serve a stop-plus-60s penalty for running the red light at the pit exit.
Six cars are on the lead lap in both GTLM and GTD. Four different marques are running in the top four in GTLM, wtih Ferrari (62 Calado) leading Ford (66 Hand), Corvette (3 Garcia) and Porsche (911 Werner). Mario Farnbacher's No. 33 Mercedes leads Robin Liddell's No. 57 Audi Tom Dyer's No. 86 Acura in GTD.

Caution No. 16 for Chris Cumming, who spins in the No. 8 Starworks Oreca exiting Turn 1 and cannot continue.
Just prior to the yellow, James Calado (62) passed Joey Hand (66) for the GTLM lead as the Ferrari vs. Ford battle continues. Jordan Taylor took the overall lead on Renger van der Zande's (90) scheduled pit stop, with Taylor leading Christian Fittipaldi by 1.007 seccond. Meanwhile, a setback for Mazda Motorsports as Spencer Pigot pits while running fifth with a fire in the engine compartment of the No. 70 Mazda DPi. The fire is quickly extinguished, but the team continues to inspect the damage while the car plummets down the scoring pylon.

Teams are beginning to switch to slick tires as the Rolex 24 reaches the 20-hour mark. While the rain has stopped, it remains veryu cool and overcast. Both of the Prototype leaders pitted for slicks at 10:24 a.m. Jordan Taylor strapped into the No. 10 Cadillac, taking over for race leader Max Angelelli, while Christian Fittipaldi took over for Joao Barbosa in the No. 5 Cadillac. Fittipaldi spun off and continued in the International Horseshoe on his out lap.
At the 20-hour mark - with 543 laps complete - Renger van der Zande leads in the No. 90 Visit Florida Racing Gibson-powered Multimatic/Riley, running 49.420s ahead of Jordan Taylor and Fittipaldi 56.153s behind. Joey Hand (66) leads Janmes Calado (62) by 0.732 in GTLM, with Andy Lally (93 Acura) leading Mario Farnbacher (93 Mercedes) in GTD. Pato O'Ward holds an 18-lap lead over Trent Hindman (26) in PC.

Big moment for race leader Max Angelelli. Up front by 12.389s, he slides and slids midway through the chicane, and then goes through the grass to get back onto the circuit Angelelli reenters the banking directly ahead of Joao Barbosa (5), barely managing to retain the lead.

Running fourth only eight minutes ago, Toni Villander has worked his way through traffic to take the GTLM lead in the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE. He outbraked Joey Hand (66 Ford GT) for the lead entering the chicane in Lap 532. Up front, Max Angelelli (10) leads Joao Barbosa (5) by 12.180s.

Joao Barbosa (5) leads the field to the restart with 4h32m remaining. Max Angelelli (10) and Renger van der Zande are on the lead lap with Scott Sharp (2) one lap behind. Angelelli didn't need long to get to the front, leading Barbosa by 1.983s on 527. Tony Vilander (62) was running third in GTLM, but slid off while battling Antonio Garcia (3) for third. Joey Hand is in the lead No. 66 Ford GT, 2.995s ahead of Kevin Estre in the No. 912 Porsche. In GTD, Adam Christodoulou has moved to the front in the No. 33 Riley-AMG Mercedes.
While the rain has stopped, it's a chilly 46 degrees and overcast in Daytona Beach. Michael Shank put his Acuras on slick tires, believed to be the first team to do so since the all-night rain.

Caution is out for the 15th time for an incident involving the 3GT No. 15 Lexus of Jack Hawksworth. Then Cedric Sbirrazzuoli crashes the No. 27 Dream Lamborghini in the infield. Alessandro Balzan is the new GTD leader in the No. 63 Ferrari, followed by Andy Lally in the No. 93 Acura and Adam Christodoulou in the No. 33 Mercedes.

Max Angelelli ran down Joao Barbosa to take the lead at the 19-hour mark of the Rolex 24. He extended his career in the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi, staying in to triple-stint on his stop at 9:30 a.m. Joao Barbosa (5) regained the lead as Angelelli struggled on cold tires, followed by Renger van der Zande. Sebastien Bourdais (66) leads GTD and Ryan Hunter-Reay (86) in GTD, with Pato O'Ward enjoying a 16-lap advantage in PC.(3.

Making perhaps the final charge of his storied career, Max "The Axe" Angelelli has ran down race leader Joao Barbosa as Cadillacs run 1-2. Seven seconds back following the restart, Angelelli (10) has cut the lead down to 0.278 seconds. Meanwhile, Renger van der Zande (90) has a scare while running third, nearly going off but is able to continue.

Back to green on Lap 496. Joao Barbosa took over the lead during pit stops, remaining in the No. 5 Cadillac. Ricky Taylor turned the No. 10 Cadillac over to Max Angelelli, who is second. Renger van der Zande (90 Riley) did not pit and is back on the lead lap, with ESM's defending winner Scott Sharp (2 Nissan) fourth,one lap back. Sebastien Bourdais (66 Ford) leads GTLM.
Shortly after the restart, James Dayson (8 spins in the infield and tags the barrier. Several cars had close calls during the incident, including second-place Max Angelelli (10 Cadillac). Barbosa leads Angelelli by 7.208s, with van der Zande another two seconds back.

The 14th full-course caution waves at the 18-hour mark to retrieve bodywork on the course dropped by David Cheng (26), who had just taken over second in PC from BAR1 Motorsports teammate Buddy Rice, whose No. 20 car is in the garage for repairs. James French (3 leads the class by 12 laps, looking to give Performance Tech Motorsports its first WeatherTech Championship victory.
Just prior to the caution, Ricky Taylor continued to lead at the 18-hour mark in the No. 10 Cadillac DPi. Joao Barbosa was second in the No. 5 Cadillac, but his lap times were falling off and he was 55.940s behind. While Renger van der Zande (90 Riley) and Scott Sharp (2 Nissan DPi) saw their cars both on the lead lap, both cars served penalties for repeatedly short-cutting the chicane, dropping them off the lead lap. Jonathan Bomarito is fifth in the No. 55 Mazda DPi, seven laps down.
Patrick Pilet leads GTLM in the No. 62 Ferrari ahead of Sebastien Boudais (66 Ford) and Jan Magnussen (3 Corvette). In GTD, Acuras were 1-2, with Ryan Hunter-Reay (86) leading Graham Rahal (93), with Matt Bell (57 Audi) third.

Dane Cameron talks about the problems that have plagued the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPiw, which has the former race leader ninth in Prototype, 16 laps back with Seb Morris now at the wheel: "It's a bunch of little stuff more than anything. Earlier in the race we got caught up with another car, and we later lost a right-front toe link as a result of that contact. The latest was an electronic glich, and we had to go back to the garage and make some changes that took some time. Unlucky more than anything, unfortunately. It's a bit disappointing to be stuck several laps down with the other Cadillacs running so well, after running 1-2 for most of this race. Always bad luck for me at this race, and it's continuing for another year."

He was four-laps back in the class, and is 80 laps ahead of fourth-place Remo Ruscitti (. Long visit to garage for Mike Conway in the No. 31 Cadillac, team working on electrical issue. Car is 12 laps down and ninth in the class, still in the garage.

14 hours into the Rolex 24, Jordan Taylor has just reclaimed the lead in the No. 10 Cadillac on a routine stop by Rene Rast (90), which also put third-place Christian Fittipaldi (5) on the tail end of the lead lap. Change up front in GTLM, with both Porsches of Kevin Estre (912) and Dirk Werner (911) getting around two Fords, with Billy Johnson (6 in third. Robin Liddell took over the GTD lead since the recent restart in the No. 57 Stevenson Audi, followed by the 33 Mercedes of Mario Farnbacher. PC remains in the grasp of Performance Tech Motorsport, with Nicolas Boulle (3 holding a three-lap lead over the two BAR1 Motorsports entries, Chapman Ducote (20) and Trent Hindman (26).

Quickly back to yellow on lap 393. Cooper MacNeil's No. 50 Mercedes circulating slowly with significant left-front suspension. Had contact with inside wall entering infield, incident similar to Scott Pruett's earlier in the race although damage not as bad. MacNeil continues to garage. ... Hartley leaves the pits for his third stint in the No. 22 and goes off at both hairpins. A big wiggle entering the banking is caught by the spectacular Kiwi, but he's soon hit by a passing GT car which turned the Nissan to the right and into the barriers on the banking. He was in second at the time. The Nissan continued slowly past the Bus Stop but Hartley pulled to a stop on course.

After the pit stope xchange gave Nissan and Brendon Hartley a brief glimpse of the lead, Taylor resumed his place atop the race and has been lapping up to two seconds faster per lap. The WTR car pulled a 41-second lead over the stint before pitting for fuel.

The three Cadillac DPis had been the lone cars on the lead lap; now there are five, led by Filipe Albuquerque (5), Michael Conway (31) and Jordan Taylor (10), with the sixth-place No. 2 ESM Nissan of 2016 Rolex 24 winner Pipo Derani now one lap down.

Caution No. 6 waves on Lap 198 for PC leader Kyle Masson, who spins in the class-leading No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsport Oreca directly in front of Michael Conway in the second-place No. 31 Whelen Cadillac. Conway avoids the incident, but Masson has trouble restarting his car. Seconds after the caution flag waves, Masson finally gets away, preserving his three-lap lead in PC. ... Race leaders pit under caution, with Conway getting away without difficulty (the car was push-started behind the wall following its last two stops).

The six-hour mark also is the end of the opening segment of the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup - a trophy captured three straight years by the No. 5 Action Express team. That organization demonstrated why it keeps winning that unique competition when it pitted both cars under the recent caution seven minutes prior to the end of the segment, and switched to rain tires even though it was barely raining. Five minutes later, leader Jordan Taylor (10) was forced to pit for rain tires as percipitation increased. At the six-hour mark, Filipe Albuquerque led in the No. 5 Cadillac -earning the five Patron Cup points, followed by teammate Michael Conway (31) and Jordan Taylor (10). In GTLM, Patrick Pilet led in the No. 911 Porsche, followed by Sebastien Boudais (66 Ford) and Augusto Farfus (No. 19 BMW). Shane Van Gisbergen led GTD in the No. 50 Riley Mercedes, followed by Pierre Kaffer (23 Audi) and Jack Hawksworth (15 Lexus).
Four minutes later, Bourdais put the No. 66 Ford GT back in front of GTLM - where it's been most of the race. Kaffer took the GTD lead but pitted, putting Hawksworth in front, while Cooper MacNeil had a broken wheel shortly after taking over from Van Gisbergen in the No. 23 Audi.

Work continues in the Starworks' garage to repair both of the team Orecas. Repairs on the No. 8 is nearly completed, with the major damage being the mounting point for the rear wing. The No. 88 broke both the right-front and rear suspension; repairs to that car will take at least another hour.

Marcel Fassler (No. 4 Corvette) loses the electrics and comes to a stop on the inside of the backstretch. He was running fourth. The incident brings out the fifth full-course caution on lap 172. Third caution on lap 110 due to a two-car incident involving Matt McMurry, who had been running second in GTD in the No. 73 Park Place Porsche, and John Falb in the No. 8 Starworks Oreca. The two made contact coming into the chicane, and both slid into the barrier. McMurry hit first, and Falb then slid into him. Both cars appear to be badly damaged.

The 20-year-old Welshman earned his ride by winning the Sunoco Whelen Challenge which involves several European series. The No. 24 BMW M6 GTLM has been retired after completing 15 laps. John Edwards was running 10th when he felt a vibration in the rear of the car. Coming to the pits, the car locked up. Ricky Taylor on his thoughts early in the race: "I didn't want to be the one who crashed the car and Jeff Gordon didn't get to race. That would have been the worst." ... Ryan Dalziel is on pit road in the No. 2 Nissan DPi, rear engine cover off.
"I started to lose power, then lost boost on one side," Dalziel said. "From one lap to the next we lost about 20kph on the front straight. The car was running good on the field. Clearly we were the best of the rest."

Tom Long had a series of problems after taking over in the No. 70 Mazda DPi. The car stalled exiting the pits and had to be pushed back. After it was refired, Long rejoined the field at the restart, and then spun in the International Horseshoe. He was then penalized for improper course entry, a stop-and-go plus one minute penalty. The sequence of events cost the team two laps. ... Also penalized was the No. 48 Lamborghini, a stop-plus 3m30s for Bryan Sellers in the No. 48 for improper wave-by.

The first time was a real deal for sure! At the beginning I hung out with JB [Joao Barboss] and let him set the pace. Then I was able to sneak by in traffic and lead some.
