I think to get accurate total results, you have to add the total laps from each day. #2 could have finished 2nd (or even lower) on both days, as long as the person in front of them wasn't the same car both days, their total laps would be higher. More laps = the win.
James, I think #25's driver changes don't show up on the lap chart because they got so far ahead of everyone else. Look at the first few laps. He was gaining 8-10 positions or more per lap! By the time the first driver was done, they were far enough ahead that even with their driver change, they were still laps ahead of the next car... thus they were still #1 at the top of the list. Cool, eh? It's a shame about that whole People's Curse thing.

Wait, I stand corrected. Looking at 25's lap charts... my guess is that they swapped driver during their penalty at 38, and they probably did run that one driver for 104 laps. Remember, this is a spec racer team, not a bunch of hacks like us. Did you see the 10 gallons of water that poured out of their car when it got crushed? They clearly had a kick-ass driver-cooling system going, and that would make all the difference in the world.
We were able to squeak out a few 60-minute sessions... for us, that was around 50 laps. The number one reason we needed to come in? Heat exhaustion. Give us driver cooling and drivers that are in better shape... 2 hours would doable. Hey, Barry... I don't remember us collecting money for the bet. Is there money left in the budget for that, or do you need us to chip in? Those TAJ bastards earned it.

I have a acute level of hatred for "spec" classes since it encourages some teams to spend twice as much to get the same result. look at a "pro" spec miata engine build some time they are rediculously expensive, one could buy an entire cosworth engine for that money Spec Miata should have a $20,000 claim rule.. that would stop a lot of the shenagins. but to get racing on the cheap the concept does work. and that "water" had a petro smell and lots of vapor coming off of it, I think they ruptured somthing other then a cooling system... hance the "burn it" comments from the crowdbut the car being a proven built race car... no doubt since their "parts" car was a undented full race prepped E-30 with the same paint scheme oh and that's car was an IS also so had 60 more horsepower then us to start, I'm happy we were as close to them as we were. as for cooling.. YES! cool shirts are the Key they are not THAT expensive I think $300 for the system and $80 for each shirt. if we could have stayed out there for a full tank it would have helped, but the car did not last a full tank without needing repair. so keep that in mind. My point was that they're probably used to being on track in traffic for 30-45 minutes or more at a time and have probably even run an endurance race before... compared to us, who have typically done 20-30 minute track sessions in the controlled DE environment.
Damn... with 60 more HP, I'd have been driving like they did, too! The whole field would have been just plain "in the way", you'd be operating on an completely different plane of existence. It all makes sense now. |

I had no issues with the heat. I didnt even notice it.. I would say putting in some tubing to catch outside air and direct it into the driver would be fine.
and YES the other FL teams.. we owe Taj the $$.. for our 00 team. We each need to pay pal him $8.34 So how do we get ahold of channel 10 and get the news Video footage.? |

Thanks!
Not sure if you guys saw it but my father had a vest you stick in the cooler for a few hours and provides 2 hours of coolness. It worked pretty good for him. He said they run about $50. We each had the same thing but in a neck wrap thing... Taking the side glass windows out helped keep us cool as well. I did the last 80 minute stint on Sunday and when I got out I was just plain whipped. You guys planning to run the #00 anywhere soon? |
