Sure -- my Basset Hound is a huge threat to airfield security...feed him a piece of pizza, and he's a weapon of mass destruction within half an hour....

Okay, maybe I'm not "cool", but I am at least "somewhat affable".

I hope to be there. I am, again, totally aggravated that FAST and SCCA have scheduled an autocross on the same day!

It's a toss up if I will even be able to go. I expect the birth of my third child, a baby girl, to occur on July 11th. We'll see if the boss will allow me to go out and play 9 days after.

I know what you mean. There is also a Deland event that day, so no one from the East coast will be out either.

I could be wrong, but I believe your frustration should lie with the SCCA for scheduling on top of a FAST event that's been on the schedule since NOVEMBER. When the FAST schedule was made, there were no conflicts, and we scheduled off of the traditional GCAC weekend to avoid that conflict.

Sometimes schedule conflicts are unavoidable, clubs have to go with site availability. But, we get enough conflicts that I just don't think people are making the effort to check other club schedules to avoid the conflicts. It's not hard to do, especially since Jeremy keeps the master schedule here on TR.

I've sent both the coordinators of FAST and the SCCA each others contact information a couple times. I don't think either one of them cares about the other organization. The response I got from the SCCA was, "There are so many clubs around here that there will always be conflicts."

Yes, FAST was the first to publish their schedule, but the SCCA schedule had already been set by then, just not published. Because as soon as the FAST schedule was published, I sent it to the SCCA coordinator. The only way things will change is if FAST and the SCCA coordinators actually work together before setting a schedule.

Oops. I registered for both days before I realized the scheduling dilemma. Due to the $15 charge, I won't be attending any SCCA events, unless I can participate on both days.

Last year I was told, in so many words, "better get started on a schedule for next season." So I did. I tried to find out when other clubs were running, and tried to avoid those dates (I found little information available at that point). I also tried to avoid major holidays. I tried to mix Saturday and Sunday events, and also tried to vary which day the event was at which site. I tried to come up with a schedule to suit the majority of the people who attend our events.

Do I "care" about SCCA? Earlier this year I came across a possible double-booking at B'ville - not just the same date, but also the same site. I sent email to 2 folks from SCCA, on Jan. 21. By Feb 17, I hadn't heard anything, and sent email to a third guy. He answered quickly, and referred me back to one of the original guys I emailed. On Feb 18, I emailed 'em again. It was March 3 before I finally got a response (along with an apology for the delay, which was nice). Points are, a: why didn't someone from SCCA check the schedule for conflicts? You said you sent them the schedule... And b: why would I want to coordinate with a group that's non-responsive? If it took 6 weeks to get a response about one date, what should I expect in trying to coordinate 11 dates? Further, I've been told that, as far as the folks who usually attend our events, those affected by having a choice between two events on the same day are a large minority. And, I, to a degree, agree with the quoted SCCA response about there being too many clubs to try to coordinate with.

Be that as it may, I'll be starting work on next year's FAST schedule at some point in the Fall. If any club wants to try to coordinate next year's schedule, I'll be happy to try to work things out with them. All they gotta do is ask.

Signed up, now to get new tires ordered on Monday and front brakes.

Has it really been a year of abuse already?

Also the SE Divisional in Gainesville this weekend was really fun.

I don't actually have any frustration aimed at anyone. I was just voicing a General Complaint. I like both clubs, and don't like to miss either of the events.

I'm pretty impressed with the coordination Steve described.

Hi Native,
I just wanted to toss in that I like the way you host some Saturday events. I know it is tricky to do.
