Lemons - full page ad
Hey, I saw a full page ad in the new Grassroots Motorsports for The 24 hours of Lemons. Pretty nice ad. I would not be surprised to see Lemon racing show up all over the country. I think the ad listed 6 or 7 upcoming races, but none in Florida.

yea I heard roumors Jay even quit his job to make a full time go of this series. I think the soloution is to have divisions. because one event every month somewhere in the country is a PITA. of course no-one is stopping us from holding events specifically for lemons cars.
and we have some new tracks coming online this summer. however in retrospect with a waiting list for every event paying for an add seems like a awful waste of money.. there must be some agreement going on there. since a business man would never advertise a product he has no problem selling. My guess is that they placed the ad in order to go national. 50 or 60 events a year all over the country. One or 2 in every state could generate some serious income.
Good point about anyone being able to run one of these. What keeps someone from stealing the idea? |

Nothing except it's an insane amount of work. hell just holding the Rallycrosses are a monumental task. and it's not a "NEW" Idea, bush league oval racing around the country has had "claimer" classes forever. If I could get some good reliable volunteers I would hold events all the time my problem is everyone I know wants to race and no-one wants to do the work. perhaps if I had a ton of money I could buy workers.. I can't even get anyone to step up and be a rally master. SCCA has the money, and the resources, but just look at the bastardization that is their solo rulebook. when you make decisions by committee in an attempt to be equal, you wind up with something that sucks equally for everyone. events like this need to be a "shoot from the hip" style of event. rules need to change for each event.. If I had 5 good people we could hold a race. but it's tough enough to find 5 people that can agree to help build a lemon car better yet set up an event. I'd even be willing to finance the endevaor if I thought I had the manpower to pull it off. Last edited by treekiller : 04-02-2008 at 04:13 PM. |

Jay mentioned in the LeMon message boards a while ago that Grassroots Motorsports is a series sponsor, so the ad space may have been a 'deal'.
