I am thinking about building a custom car pc for my burb... but where do i find interfaces and stuff like that to view my instrumentation and stuff like that... i just wanna know what im getting myself into

i could hook a laptop up to your headunit but i'm too sure about the instrumentation. there's probably a program or the laptop i you have one but i'm sure it's gonna cost ya. lol

my buddy paul (silviaspeed) was telling me about this, he had a whole bunch of links. Had the software on his PC jsut not in his car. You can get SatNav and play your music thru WMP. Twisted Pixel is awsome to watch react to the music as well. If i hear from him today ill ask for ya.

1. you can buy custom software and a custom reader

2. Write software to read binary from your COM port

3. Build a reader custom made for your car

4. Fake it like the Pioneer N2 using built in sensors to guess.

if your talking about building a carpc such as this



using a laptop or standard pc components are not what you should use. Toby sells the parts or you can buy a kit online.

here are some sites that sell the stuff you need

if your just setting up a lap top or something so you can take readings from your car, never mind then
