Wiring DVC to two amps?

Someone asked me this the other day, is it possible to wire up a DVC subwoofer to either two amps or 1 4 channel amp (bridged on each VC?)


I told him that I think its technically feasable, but that all settings have to be exactly the same so the VC's move as close to the same time as possible? Am i wrong though? Would this just end up ruining the subwoofer?

It's possible, but the fact that no two amps are exactly the same makes it not the best choice for a daily driven system.

thats what i'm thinking, the two amps would play somewhat differently and while one coil moves 100% of the way up at one point in time, the 2nd is pushing 90%... just kinda yanking it i guess?

oh well i'll just recommend he not do it, i was leaning towards that anyways.

the amps have be exactly the same model hel they would hae to come of the same batch and setting have be exactly the same. It possible but it has to be exact

If the amps do not have strapping (theres a plug and a master/slave switch) you will not be putting out identical signals.

This might cause probs at high wattage as even a slight misalignment will lead to extreme drop in resistance between the coils - like a sudden drop to zero ohms. which could damage the amps and overheat the sub.
