Diamond Audio Hex S600.s....

WOW!!

just put a set in my S2K. all i can say is wow. i havent bought speakers since 1998 when i got hooked up on a MB Quart sponsorship deal for my old Integra. i had always loved Quarts. but was having trouble finding them at any places but online. no one locally really sold them.

So I headed over to A.V.E. in clearwater to take a listen to the Hex's that they have always told me about. even on the board in the showroom i was blown away. So i bought a set...here is why i was sold.

the tweeters are very transparent comapred to Quart. the highs are all there and are not muted at all. however the sound is much less harsh than the Quarts. it makes the music sound mroe delicate. you hear everythign...but it isnt attacking. it is smooth.

Midbass...oh my god. Anyone who has ever owned quarts knows the midbass...even in 6.5" is weak. Quarts dont really liek mid bass at all and you can tell when you run them hard. the Hex's sound liek there is a 8" sub running somewhere.

Now this was all runnign off a 125w/ch amp on the board in the showroom. I was expecting to be disapointed a bit when i TEMPORARILY installed them in the s2k and ran them off my new Kenwood EZ-500 deck.

well...i was wrong

everythign that i liked about them still exists. even on deck power. now i just need to get that MB Quart amp that i got off crutchfiueld for $250 installed and see how they sound with some real power.

system as planned:

Kenwood EZ-500 (installed)
MB Quart RAA4200 amp (waiting to be installed) 4x100 set to 2x100 and 1x400
Dimaond Audio S600.s
JL 10W3-D2 (waiting to be installed in custom fiberglass encl)

should be pretty good.

any suggestions ona 4x75 or 4x100 amp if i dont liek the MB Quart amp?? My Integra used to have McIntosh amps... I have looked at audison but they are pricey. lookign for really good repliable pwoer in a compact package. any suggestions appreciated.

AVE is awesome. One of the only places ill let work on my car.

Arc Audio for amps. Ungodly awesome, better than JL for sound quality IMO. Others Jesse listed are very good amps. But not sure if anyone in Tampa sells Arc. My buddy in NJ owns a shop, carries them (way below retail) if your interested. AIM-kpr10is

BTW scott this is kevin, i dunno if you remember me...my dad plays tennis with your dad.
