I've used both and I like eclipse alot better. Although I can't give you my opinion on the new stuff because I like and use old school headunits. The eclipse just sounds smoother to me, the alpine was surgically precise... a bit too much to sound musical. Transitions were just buttery the eclipse.
The funny thing is that the alpine was higher in it's model line than the eclipse was in it's. |

True that is why I brought it up. Both are good quality headunits, but Eclipse takes the cake when it comes to sound quality. I've had experience with both, and have gone out and compared them side by side, sure alpines might have alot of controls that might be useful for others, but the quality is not comparable to an eclipse head unit.

The older style eclipse units are the shit, but the new ones look ghey IMHO, on top of that I believe the company was bought out by an American Corp not to long ago, which more or less means...crap-o-la. But I've always been a fan of Eclipse back in the days when I had the ol 7005 Head unit and indash cd changer...but since they've remolded the HU's I just could buy one. I've never personally owned an Alpine until this X-Mas when my GF bought me my first one and I must say, so far it's pretty nice. But there's some useless buttons on my particular deck, but it looks damn sexy
