Looking for any "Straight Gas" stations in the area. I will take any of the locations posted and add them to the second post. If we get enough I'll put the locations into a Google Map for all of us to use.

Please dont come in this thread with an opinion about Ethanol, other members, yourself, or anything else. Unlike the other thread which turned into a pissing match, this thread should be kept as only a list of locations.

Thanks.

This guy told me that the second he couldn't get gas without ethanol, he'd stop selling gas. You can even smell the gas and tell it's the good stuff, doesn't smell like ass.

That's a shame, so he'll be out of business come 2009 :-( there is a statewide mandate that by 12-2009 100% of all fuel sold in our state be 10% ethanol. which means pure petrol is going to be progressively harder and harder to find and I expect 100% proliferation by mid next year. I don't have a problem either way, but some here must.

time to start tuning for it. FLA is making Zero moves toward adding flex fuel availability. and unless FLA starts selling a TON of E85 it'll never meet the 10% minimum without dosing every gallon of regular gas sold in the state. It's sad but the truth. but if you tune for it, there is no reason you can't meet 97.5% of your current fuel economy which is 1 MPG on a 40 MPG car, or .5 on a 20 MPG car.

sorry to ramble on, but after I saw that it makes this list a bit obsolete.

They are currently open(no ethanol, Palm Harbor). It's like 3 minutes from my house. They're open 5 or 6 days of the week. Got gas there less then 2 weeks ago.

***Update, I was there today 11/19, it's $1.96***

are we looking for ethanol free stations because there's more combustion in stright gas? Sorry for the ignorance.

Len's shell has ethanol now. At the very least, I know they had an accidental shipment of ethanol fuel about a month ago, so if they're back to straight gas now, there has at least been ethanol in the tanks. Just a heads up.

Yes, that's the gist of it. Ethanol has higher octane (burns slower, good for high-compression or high-boost engines), but lower energy content.

AND as I've found out, is a lot harder to ignite (since it has such a high octane) your ignition system better be up to the task. I just had a Honda come in my shop and he was complaining up and down about Ethanol laden gas. well after I checked his car out and pulled the codes. he was misfiring like crazy. Pulled the plugs and the .044" spec plugs were worn down to .080 (almost double the gap) and the rest of the system was old.. I replaced the Plugs with Accel U-groove copper cores, Put some beefy Accel 8mm wires on it, A new cap and rotor and amazing. the codes are all gone and I just filled it up with E10 and Not a hint of misfire. I don't know what his mileage was before but I did a quick calculation on my test drive monitoring the ECU with my Acctron, and the Short term fuel trim was -6.7 (on E10) long term has not been set yet. but usually on ethanol gas you expect to see a positive number here.. I'm going to drive it home tonight and monitor the ECU, but it seems much of the Ethanol complaints can be solved with a good tune up.

EDIT: FYI my Sentra Short term fuel trim is +0.5 on Straight gas, and +2 to +3 on E10. that's in % on E85 I have to wait for the long term fuel trim to catch up before it will perform correctly but those numbers are closer to +20 (these are all % of Injector duty cycle)
