I haven't heard of anything and haven't seen anything about it on the forums either. I'll take another look around.

I found this on the SCCA cfrauto2 yahoo user group
"The State Champs are being hosted this year by Martin Sports Car
Club. The Champs will be held on Sunday November 9th, with a planned
practice day on Saturday November 8th. The club is in the final
stages of getting the chosen site under contract, and I can't say any
more about the site until that occurs. But I believe that will
be wrapped up this week, so stay tuned. Costs are somewhat going to
be determined by the particulars of the contract with the site as
well, so that will have to wait for the official announcement from
Martin Sports Car Club."

Info is up but registration is not open when I checked it today. Also it doesn't state it but do you still have to qualify to be there with a certain amount of events ran in the state?

Site Details: The Autocross Championships will be held on the concrete paddock area along the backstraight between turns 16 and 17. After entering the main gate (Gate 1) immediately take the small access road on the right. There should be a small shed where you will have to sign a safety waiver. From there go straight and drive across the bridge that goes over turn 17 and then you should see the paddock area in front of you on the right.

I am pretty sure there are not any 'qualifications' to participate. We'll be there! I just booked a hotel for it.

$70 does seem a bit steep, but I guess you get a T-shirt ($15) and lunch ($10)... so the autocross entry is only $45. That's not so... no... wait, that still sucks.
I got nothin'.

Perhaps the drivers will not have to run off the course during their work heat to make one of their runs? Martin has the dumbest run/work order on the planet.

West or East coast "style" I'm assuming east...... I've never been over there but like Muddy said all I've heard is it involves a lot of stupidity.................pass........
There is no difference between east and west coast scca style.
But yeah, I doubt I am going to drop $70 on 3 or 4 runs.

As far as I know it is the Gulf Coast club that runs their events where you run, work, sit and then run again due to the idiots that show up and don't work. They are not SCCA West nor East.
I do not believe Martin's runs their events this way. They did not run them this way when they chaired our CRX event autox.
As far as the entry fee is concerned National and State championship events are a higher entry fee.
As for the pre req for being able to run in past years they have required that the participants had run in a certain amount of competition events to be qualified to run the State Championships.
I still don't see the "big" deal about food at an event but whatever makes it better for you go for it. Seriouisly its about being able to run your car not about being fed.
What makes it a competition at a higher level then local is that you only get 3 runs. Its a lot of pressure, makes it interesting and really makes you think about your approach of the course.

I don't really like the inefficient GCA run/work order either, but at least they don't require all the course workers to leave the course to get one of their runs, then return to finish their work heat. :-o
