I said I'd report on this, but didn't figure it belonged in the "mileage log" thread.
One full tank lapping at Sebring. All track mileage less a trip from the gas station to the track and from the track to the gas station.
165 miles.
10.2 gallons.
16.18 mpg.
Woohoo! (way more fun than hypermiling)

is the yaris actually decent on the track? or is it more of just a fun thing for you and it happens to be the car you own?

Both. :)
I really don't get a lot of feedback personally, but from what I've heard... I get "talked about" a lot at the track. :) With the suspension I have on it, the Yaris handles VERY well and when driven well it can really frustrate some people in much (much, MUCH) more expensive machines in the turns... even on street tires. If I wanted to invest in a set of race tires and some forced induction, I'm sure I could really piss a lot of people off with it. :)
The most fun I had today was dicing it up with a couple Miata guys. We were very evenly matched. The second most fun was pointing by a newer Vette (of course) and after he walked me in the straight between turns 13 and 14... I caught in in turn 15 and was ON HIS ASS and actually had to slow down and botch my own line through turn 16 because he was so freakin' slow in the turns.
I guess spending money and planting your right foot is easy. ;)
So, to summarize my Yaris: Slow in the straights, fast in the turns. The Miata guys I was playing with were running 2:55 laps if that means anything to you. I was playing cat and mouse with them all day, so I'm running 2:55's or better.

Get out of the "Green Motoring" forum and into the "Autox/Track Events" forum. Look at the sticky posts. Visit the track club websites. Ask questions.

No way, it's much better to go offtopic in your thread.
I was just looking for an answer to that one track you posted.

You can get novice track time with instruction at Sebring with many clubs. PBOC, Chin, NASA, SAFE. Not hard to do, just takes money. How much? With instruction, usually around $250-300 per day. Most clubs will also require you to buy a membership to their club for $50 or so. Then you've got the expense of tires, brake pads, maintenance, etc. I usually plan on $500/day all inclusive.
Seriously, get over in the Autox/Track forum. This is the kind of thing we talk about over there all the time. And if you keep your eyes open over there, you can find ways to save money. (for instance, we just got a group of about 20 people on Sebring with PBOC for $230 each)
