I've visited S&R twice ove the past few months. The first visit was to complete a turbo inlet install on my WRX. I had started the job myself, but ran into some trouble. Anyone who owns a Subaru knows that turbo inlet jobs are a severe PITA and mine was no different. I decided to tow the car to S&R to have them finish it. Mike and the guys had it done after 4 hours of labor and the install looks as good as I could've hoped.
More recently, I was down there to fix a leak from my turbo oil return line and troubleshoot a vacuum leak. Their one available lift was tied up when I got there after some bad parts got delivered. Instead of making me wait on the lift to clear, Mike hunched over the car and fixed the oil leak right there. The vacuum leak turned out to be non-existant, and I was on my way. I have since heard that more lifts have been installed to prevent this problem in the future.
I hadn't planned to post about either of these visits until recently. First Brotherz Racing got a lot of bad press due to some shady dealings. Now Driven Concepts seems to be looking at the same fate. Combine this with the loss of XAT, and it seems that there are few reputable shops in the Bay area nowadays. Everyone on TR should know that S&R is one of those few. I was never really keen on trusting my car to a shop for anything. Too many horror stories. But after a few other Subaru guys recommended S&R, I bit the bullet and I'm glad I did.
I would still rather do my own work, but if there's ever anything I want to farm out, 813-961-0609 is the only number I'm calling. :bigthumb:
