If you want all that bass, why play around - put a snug top on or bed lid and do a cut thru, more room - more bass!
ps i am throughing out a old coffee table want it for your box?

funny but no im buying MDF soon to do the front baffle going with a sealed box insted of ported.. and im not doing a walk-though cause the truck is geting converted to 4x4 as soon as i go get my CJ for the axles so the body is going to have to flex with the frame so no walk-though for me
GradeA_TireFryer

1 - why dont you take that lawn mower to a few of your neighbors house nad cut their grass. Im sure you could pull in decent $ for audio projects.
2 - blow thrus have rubber accordian pieces that join the front and back so that it will flex as if there was nothing there.
3. could you add any more bracing :D
I have posted multiple pics of blow through box setups on here. If you want to hit major db's on that small of a cab, this is a must. It is about half as much work, loks a ton cleaner (allows you to build some great displays for the amps and mid drivers, etc with all that cab space left over), and if you light it properly, it can be a show stopper. We buy the accordian pieces for less than $50 premade, you allow at least 2" all the way around the pass through port to the body, and you can twist the body as much as you please. Remember, we are in Land O Lakes-there are lots of "Big Boy Toys" out here that live in the mud on the weekends. They break stuff, but I have never had one come back in with anything having to do with the blow through design break. Mainly just busted amp rack braces (we weld steel racks for most of them now), or just buried them in a lake (electronics + water = BAD....) :D

I meant a "blow thru" setup. A rectangular opening at the front of the box, through the front of the bed, and into the cab. Usually about 2 feet wide by 1 foot tall. I didn't mean a whole big enough to walk through. The blow thru design in one big sealed box built inside of the bed with the rectangular port firing forward. As was mentioned, you have to install an "over the rail" Snug Top (aka "lid") to keep everything dry. Everyone we have ever built wether it be using two L7 15's, Memphis MOJO15's, ANY 18's or whatever, has always yielded BIG BASS for relatively little labor time/cost. We were doing so many about a year ago that we were putting menu package prices together and completing them in one day usually.
I will dig out a few more pics for you to see for example from our files. You will see that you can then get really creative with how you mount your equipment in the back of the cab since the box is no longer taking up that space. You truck is already gutted, as long as you have the MDF, you will only have to drop that additional $50 on the accordian rubber. If you decide to do this, I will help you get the rubber if you can't find a local supplier.

are you sure you aren't high when you get these hair brained ideas? you shouldnt have put those out that far. your gonna need to use your seat belts so you're wasting good wood, by double cutting it. why dont you save a few kittens and a few bucks by first getting the audio equipment you need/want to finish your project before starting it up.. that way you can actually finish one...

There's no point. If you've been around here for awhile, you know this guy's been doing this for the past 2 years. Nothing will ever change. It's just one mess after another. All you can do is sit back, laugh, and pray to god he doesn't reproduce.

Not that hard to do in a CRX. But your gunna have to do a lot of reading and learn from that reading if your gunna pull that off. Also your gunna need decent subs and a bit of a power, including an electrical to support it. Odds are against you.

And now you are going to destroy a Crx.... :(
Also why not run so good stuffs to get good sound???
Not talking shit.. just would like to see something finished...
Right now im running 1 type r 12 in a Huge ported box... running it with a 400 Watt old skool JBL amp. Sounds very good.... the box makes the sub sound great...
Now im only haveing power problems.... those old skool amps are power hungry.... even for 400 watts im still getting the dash lights dimming....
Next stop Yellow top for under the hood and red top in the hatch....

I doubt your friend did that number legal on a new TL.
Birch may be stronger but is it almost 3 times as much as MDF... really no point to it except to save weight.
GradeA_TireFryer
08-23-2008, 02:27 PM
birch is still used in the PA, Loud speaker industry, it can take a better beating than mdf, there is nothing wrong with except it's cost, you could also use what is called white wood plywood, it is cabinet grade finish just as strong/dense but cheap, both homedepot and lowes sell it, but mdf is a denser material, cheaper, but it is pourious, so for a high spl box you would need to seal it with a coat of resin. I do it on the inside - poor some in and roll it around until every thing is coated. then let it set in the sun to dry & get the smell out.
