Registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Nationals Warmup and Test and Tune on Sunday, August 10th! Why wait until the week of Nationals to tune your car...you know it needs it now! So, sign up now for this great event at South Georgia Motorsports Park located just north of Valdosta, GA. Registration will be limited to the first 30 entrants so as to provide as much testing and tuning time for each driver as possible. The course will be in the 30-40 second range and will feature most if not all of the elements you will find at the Solo National Championships. Extra cones and asphalt space will be available to competitors on a first come-first serve basis to set up their own small maneuvers (i.e. skidpad, slalom, etc.)

Entry fee for this event is $75 and does include unlimited runs the entire day. Last year my car ran about 30 runs until the shifter broke and that was at lunch time! There will be no specified run groups. Course will be open to all competitors, all day. Schedule is as follows:

Check-in and registration start: 8:30am - 12pm (registration will stay open until at least 12 to allow for entrants to arrive later in the day)

Courses open for walking: 8:30-9:15am.

First car out: 9:30am

Lunch break: 12:30-1pm

Clean-up and close: 4pm

I just received confirmation of the date yesterday, so apologies for the delay in posting this event. Please email Mike King at sales@streetmod.com or Scott Strickland at stricklandjs@yahoo.com to pre-register. Please pre-register before it fills up! Looking forward to another great event this year!

THIS WILL BE A GREAT EVENT. WELL WORTH THE $.
SEE YOU THERE,

One thing I really remember about that surface is that my tires def needed heat in them to get grip and when you are off the line there is a lot of gravel to slide on.

Keith how are you getting to Nationals? Are you showing up and co-driving? Towing or driving your car up?

Yes
SMGP has less traction than the concrete we run on. That is why it is important to get practice and set up time on other surfaces.
But overall SGMP has better grip than most other blacktop areas.

At a National level event, as more runs are put on the course - you have to sometimes run other people's lines instead of yours to stay out of the marbles.

I will go up to this practice event to work on getting the car set up and learn from some other people.

I will not be making the trip to Nationals this year.
I will plan on making the Big 2 day event at the Michelin Test facility in SC in Sept and the State Championships in Nov ( where ever they end up at ). I would like to do the Southern Sprint - but still working on that.

Take care,

Actually I was trying to run the line, remember on the second day how it was basically a straight line with a minor touch of the wheel then into the solomn. Yea no heat in the tires sent me off the line and off to the gravel to slide instead of the solomn. Bah!

Agreed about the changing of pavement. That is why Palm Bay is a good place to run or SPJC.
