I go back out a few hours later and it starts but heavy clanking sound coming from either the number 2 or 4 cylinder and the oil pressure and rpms held somewhat stable at and idle. Any ideas????

FS Feeler: Fresh LQ4 with Mods - LS1TECH (http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=911784&highlight=lq4)

If the oil pressure dropped and then you started to hear a noise, and now the oil pressure is back up and it is still making the noise, you definetely have an issue.

The LQ4 is a Gen III (LS1) style engine w/ a bigger displacement and iron block.

You can use your intake/tb from your current engine. In fact all your sensors should be in the original locations.

well i found an engine, its a 350 four bolt main, bored 60 over, hydraulic lifter, roller rockers, edelbrock carb and itake. Now im not sure what year it is, im guessing its from the 80's judging by the owners other cars. Would it be possible to switch my ls1 fuel injection system to this motor...i will have pics of the motor and more details friday.

depends. If its a 6-speed, I'd say atleast 1500 bucks for that. Not sure really about Autos, due to liability issues. 800 bucks+?
