Best springs for around $200?

I was wondering what the best lowering springs would be for a '93 nissan 240sx hatchback for between $150-$200? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Springs are a very touchy issue. a lot is a matter of taste, opinion, and your personal needs.

If your just dealing Lowering Springs it's hard to beat Dobinsons Out of Australia problem is no-one here carries them.

Their Part number fpr the front is

since there is not that much difference in the quality of spring steel. some people swear by a bright glossy powder coated finish. Dobinsons uses an electrocoated process like the OEM factories use that does not flake off after 20,000 miles.

and they do all their engineering in-house, Just look at their cross refrence guide.

They will custom wind a spring too if your racing body requires you use stock perches, or stock heigth.

problem... it's gonna cost you to ship them, the advantage is the exchange rate is still $.94 US dollars to one of their so take 5% of whatever price they quote you.

The aussies don't have the super smooth roads that the Japanese and
Euro's have so their products translate very well to american roads.

and please don't cheap out... there are a lot of stock replacement parts out there that have no sporting intention. if your not going to adjust them every 2 min Bilstein Sports come valved and engineered for a lower spring. and are my #1 recommendation. since they are a BIG monotube damper, and have an internal bumpstop. (so they won't break the first time the car bottoms out) but koni or Tokikio Illuminia (I thibnk they might be called D-spec now) or even KYB AGX are suitable.

Actually if you go to Shox.com they list a bunch of options. I remember doing a S13 "on the cheap" wuth AGX and off the shelf Tein s techs and the owner was estatic.

I was going to say AGX's with with RS*R's but that would cost over 700$

I know Dan, that's why I usually tell people to go right to a nice matched and adjustable coil-over kit since once you've gotten a good shock kit and springs that work you could have purchased a full coil over kit with adjustable bodies and valving, camber plates included, pillow ball mounts. and 2.5" springs which are CHEAP and easy to change. and most everyone I talk to ends up there anyway apparently most people think there is money to be saved... that was true 10 years ago when coil over kits were $3000 but when you can get a K-sport, D2, Megan. yadda yadda yadda for < $900 it's a no-brainer.

True, I was going to suggest to just save up. But I say that all the time to new'er people and just give them what they ask for.

To OP if you want to just save up for coil-overs the best bang for the buck is KTS coil-overs from SPLParts.com total is 1030$ with shipping.
15 way adj shock, height adjustable, spring preload adjustable. Awesome warrenty and if you break it by smashing one into a curb you can buy 1 full shock for 250$ or individual parts if something happens and its not covered under/ expired warrenty. Few guys drift with them out in orlando with thier DD's and have had them for over 2 years with no problems.

They are also not bouncey like megans and the cheaper K-Sports.

Thanks for all the input guys! Under normal circumstances, i would of just saved up for a little while and got some coilovers. But not long after i bought my 240, i realized that it had cut springs and about 3 weeks later one popped off and got bent so it was difficult to drive the car. That will work, perhaps a bit under damped, but it's a good kit for the price. as those Tein springs will always hold their value even if you end up getting better suspension. it's a comprimise, but much better then throwing somthing on the blown stock struts.
