you can leave it open or cap it, doesn't matter. that should work fine with just oil.

You can cap it..under-hood temps are a little higher but you shouldn't have a problem.Mine is only oil cooled and I plan on roasting marsh-mellows on it..making around 680 to 700WHP.

you can run it without coolant (caps aren't necessary) but if you look at some honeywell, kkk and borg warner test data, you will see running coolant is quite benifical to the compressed air temps...yes, keeping the chra cool makes a noticable effect on the compressor housing and wheel temps ;)

cliff's notes: you don't need to run coolant or even cap it but is is better if you do.

depends on the vehicle, but some factory coolant setups can't hold up to the extra strain of a turbo (if your putting a turbo on a factory n/a setup).

just make sure that people have run coolant setups on their turbos with your vehicle before you go ahead and do it. you might need a better radiator and fans.

its a lot of fun overheating all the time.

benifits of coolant is pretty good though. you can usually double the life of the turbo and there is no need for a turbo timer or cool down in most cases (obviously if you beating the crap out of it, don't turn it off right away).

if tapping into the factory coolant system I would try and place the turbo at the end of the line...last component before the radiator...upgrading radiator, fans and a cooler thermostat would be recommended for longevity and happier setup.

What car/engine is this going on?

it is going on a crx si (d16a6) thats is going to be built (once turbo is on) and has the stock full size in it but going to a half size so everything fits (and now may have to upgrade to an aftermarket half size and fans....... as you all are saying)

or can just cap off the coolent and save money how and worry about the turbo when it goes out lol

personally with the given turbo, I'd just let it eat...cap it off and run it until she's dead...the added performance from the cooler intake charger can be made up in other ways with less hassle.

its your call, your going to be alright either way.

most people never see the benifits of water cooling (at least the longevity) due to the fact that most put turbos on cars that will be abused or have sub par parts to compliment the system.

meaning, your more likely to throw a valve through the turbo or burn up the bearing due to too high of a egt long before the regular wear and tear will kill it.

i personally run oil cooled turbos more often then not and usually have great success.

i was talking to a co-worker earlyer today and he brought up a good point on how watercooled center sections usually keep oil temps down which keeps oil from breaking down faster and bumping oil pressure a couple psi.

just somthing to think about.
