I took Chuck Babel (the guy with two Vipers) up on his offer to enjoy some track time at Sebring. I did not enter my car($220), so I just road along with him and other racers. I only paid $30 and got a chance to ride along with Chuck in his 97 Viper, a one year old new style orange NSX in mint condition(club president), and Hoosier sticky BMW M coupe (piloted by a driving instructor. Shit, I had such a blast, my only two regrets were:
1) Not getting a ride in the race prepared Porsche GT2
2) That more of my friends and TR members were not able to go
You all missed out big time.
I should have Video and pictures up as soon as I figure this old technology thing out.

everyone shouldnīt miss this. Thatīs a good deal for roadracing.
I've been meaning to head out to one of those events but in the back of my mind I worry about something breaking/bending/crushing and the towing bill involved.
$220 though...that really is a great price. Hell, Chin charges $350 I believe.

Glad you could make it Neil. Thanks for the help. I'm looking forward to the pics and video. I had a great time with everyone. If anyone wants to come to one of my other events, pick a date from my schedule and let me know.

Bill, don't be afraid to come out. Most guys drive to the track and drive home safely afterwards. That's why it's called SAFE Motorsports! The only ones that trailer are the race prepped guys.
Drive fast safely and legally. It's awesome.

I have to agree with Chuck...it is extremely SAFE:lol: (play on words) I've been running track events since '97 and haven't had an incident yet.
SAFE is the best deal around. Chin is more expensive but not 350.00, and you get more track time with SAFE.
Chuck let me know if you want to make changes to the web site. I offered to help Phil, but he said to talk to you.
Thanks,
Patrick

Well the whole reason I ever even did a motor swap was to do some roadracing. I then broke an axle at an autocross event and ever since....well I've been somewhat scared to push the car for fear of being stranded. Bleh, I guess it's about time I get over this fear. The September event looks promising, I will be there either as a spectator or driver. :D
RoadRacer - It's around $250 for the event, $50 novice fee, and then another $50 for membership. I guess if you're already a member and not a novice then it's a good deal cheaper but...

No club offers as much track time as SAFE. That fact along with it being the most affordable track club around make it the clear choice if you want to get started. And NO RUN GROUPS!!! There's nothing like being able to go on the track whenever you feel like it.
Come on out Bill. If you break down I'll bring your car back for you just pay for gas. Deal???

Chuck,
I just checked out your website. I, too, have been itching to get to a Sebring track session. (I attended a Chin session last August, but did not enter, only did a touring lap)
One thing I notice on the website is a requirement for previous experience driving a road course "at speed". Would several years of autocross experience be acceptable? Or do I need to log some seat time with an instructor somewhere else before I can run with SAFE?

Chuck,
I will try to call you Thursday or Friday to meet up about the pictures. Are either of those days good for you? Call me or PM me 813-977-9048.

Write my name in as a sponsor. http://www.safemotorsports.com/Application.asp I will ride with you for a few laps and if you keep it on the track and feel comfortable you'll be on your own all afternoon. I've never had a problem.
Neil, AM would be best. Thanks.
Bill, see you at the track.
