Derek..how many cubes is your motor? Werent you throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it to try to get over 500 rwhp.
Here a few good examples of basic buildups of some stout LS1s.

BTW he has a 397 hyd cammed LS1 that uses stock computer, stock resleeved block, stock crank, stock LS6 head ported with new valves/springs, etc that made 510rwhp and 490 rwtq. Still a dialy driver, still gets decent gas milage. Not an extreme build up by anyones standards. Pump gas. Then there is this little jewel.492 rwhp from 346 cubes

 

I think the Mod motors are finally starting to come around as well. The 2003 Cobra motor has shown great potetial when you forge it. There are quite a few 500+rwhp 2V's as well. Only props to the LS1 is you guys are doing it N/A, where as the Mod Motors love FI. To bad both motors cost an arm and a leg to mod...

The stock crank is offset ground a little to give a small stroke gain. But the vast majority of the extra cubes is gained by increasing the bore from 3.92 to 4.125. The stock crank is plenty strong for this.

 

Actually the 397ci car made 517rwhp..

 

Things are not even. Given the same rpm range, cubes and a hydraulic cam....the LS-1 will always make better power across the entire board. This has yet to be proven otherwise.

 

Exactly. Until Ford comes out with a 347 pushrod motor with a good heads and cam package, things wont be even.

 

Or until Ford comes out with a big cubic inch mod motor.....
