is it normal for 2.2 to kinda backfire while in gear and coasting?

I mean fucking fire, sounds like I got a shotgun with me...

it goes sorta like this...sounds fine when you let off the gas then its starts to pop a little and then more and more and more, till its sounds like I am shooting a gun..that fucking loud...

PS: I backed it down to 5 psi and still does it, is this because of the 20% over injectors? or is this just timing still?

Thanks

I'd say timing. The csx pops and gurgles but doesn't backfire like that.

I thought popping meant you are running lean?

Not really.

The explosions are from excess gas in the exhaust piping, I assume.

Besides that the car has 20% injectors and I have it turned down to 5 psi so thats why i say its maybe too rich?

I need a EGT anyone got one FS?

I dont know but i have a 2.0 dohc neon that does that shit too, Its from the timing advancing itsself, so that would mean its rich cause the throttle is closed and ur are still at a decent amount of rpms. Or it could be that ur timing belt is old and has streched out a little.

i get the gurgle too. its because ive opened up the exhaust, but not reset the TPS. theres a site somewhere that tells how to reset it

turbo cars are just wierd like that, My car does the same thing, its because of my BOV, my computer is expecting the return air to the turbo, and it gets expelled by the BOV, so the computer still dumps fuel to compensate for the air the feul is then dumped into the HOT ass exhaust, and it ignites, which has no where to go but out the back because of the exhast being pushed through the downpipe, so it ignites and goes out the back, which is why you get your "pop" and why you get your fire. =-)

that could be true, except on our cars we dont use a MAF sensor... so the engine has no clue what air volume is entering or leaving the engine. Ours has to do with the TPS

Very true... MAP is the better of the 2...

So where can I find this reset TPS ? This is new to me????????????????????????????????????

My idle is rock solid@ 800, and never stalls out. I am pulling 14.7 inches while @ idle also. Still shits out Turbo Hondas, with the A/C blowin cold...

i dunno... search the net. try donovans or dempseys. it was something like you unplug the TPS, then plug the TB so it stalls, something something. i dunno, i never got to doing it
