I dont know if this applies to anyone here, but just incase you read this and dont get the yahoo groups mail.....
"I have received word that on Saturday afternoon, two people were
driving recklessly on their way towards the gate out of the
Fairgrounds. Apparently, they were speeding across the Midway section
(where they shouldn't have been anyway) and had to slam on their
brakes to avoid hitting one of our members when they re-joined the
main road.
The vehicles involved were an Acura Type R and a grey Honda S2000. The
Type R was a participant at the event, and a member of the SCCA,
though the S2000 was not registered in the event. We know the name of
the Type R driver and have the license plate of the S2000 (it was
rather easy to remember). I won't give the names, at least not now,
but if you're reading this, you know who you are.
This type of behavior will NOT be tolerated anywhere near our events.
We cannot risk allowing irresponsible behavior to get us kicked out of
an event site. We work much too hard to get every site we have and do
not wish to waste time finding new ones. If you are being stupid in an
area that is close enough to where we are running to be associated
with our event, consider yourself banned.
The Type R driver returned for Sunday's event, and I do not know if
the S2000 driver was the same silver/grey one who ran on Sunday. I did
not know about this incident until today, but if I had known about it
yesterday, he/they would have been asked to leave immediately. They
will not be welcome at any future event. Period.
Neal"
not cool whoever it was.

Well, someone <"Z3PO"> - resident asshole- found the yahoo thread (but possibly it was copied from T R) - edited it and sent it to me without the "I don't know if.." part. I got pissed and blasted Neal in a PM. The memorable license plate? It's above? No one ever told me what that memorable plate was. Now, I'm not 100% that it was this guy, but match the plates, huh. I know there were many members of the Tampa Bay S-2000 club there. I've tried to motivate them to do a few auto crosses to round out their schedule. Some (2) of them ran at the last PCA event and liked it. I hear that Saturday they were there (7 or 8 of them?) and one guy ran. They're novices and I suppose maybe they don't know the ettiquite. Although I am probably somewhat responsible, I provided the information to them to get more people out to the events, it wasn't me...I wasn't there Saturday and can't ever do any event on a Saturday due to my job, although I'm trying to do both Sebring days. I don't know the guys in that club well, but will pass this thread on to one that I know a little, who has a yellow one by the way. This guy (it sounds like) was in a Silverstone (dark grey / charcoal) S-2000 and I own a Sebring Silver - appropriate for this weekend - and it has a non-personalized Bucs Tag (below). So, I did the research and don't care about throwing this guy under the bus...it clears my name. Hope he's not mad at me....The pics are attached and sorry about the intense flaming Neal. If you were accused of being a total asshole and jeprodizing an event site, possibly getting you kicked out of your only enjoyable recreation, and probably gaining you more enemies than you'd ever want, when you were actually twelve mles away (at work) you'd get pissed too. You'll notice my plate is not memorable and my car is not grey. I help as much as I can at the events, bring new people into the Solo 2 scene, and go to as many events as my job will allow. Enough said.....
I can't defend somebody I don't know, but he's probably been to all of two events, doesn't know anyone who does auto-crosses, has obviously never heard the warnings in the driver's meeting, etc. I'd give him another chance once an apology is made. He, like many, probably wanted to watch a few and get some insight into it before going out totally green.
Maybe a warning at the gate (yes I know the 25mph signs ARE everywhere) and another when signing the waiver would keep this from happening again.
Don't take me wrong. I'm not trying to smooth anything out for him, I'm just clearing my name and looking for a better answer than just that he's an asshole. "Do it once, shame on you. Do it twice shame on me" (or us in this case).
I'll make sure they all know the proper ettiquite and let you (Neal, Poindexters, etc.) decide what's to be done.

Thanks for the apology, OversteerS2K, though I don't think you owed me one. I would have acted the same way.
Whoever sent that email to OversteerS2K is pretty low. 'Nuff said. I'd like to know who it was...
I'll only add that after I posted my message, several people immediately wrote me to tell me that the S2000 from Saturday was DEFINITELY NOT OversteerS2K. While I think it's clear that I never actually accused him (it was only logical that we looked to see if there were any grey/silver S2K participants on Sunday), I should have probably sent an update right away to make sure there was absoluetly no misunderstanding. Sorry, OversteerS2K! Live and learn, I guess.

The "OTHER" driver is on another message board I'm on. I'm not going to tell him, as I'd rather him drive 2 hours and then turned away.

this is so lame....this ricer mentality is gonna kill someone. I hope that fucker gets a ticket before he hurts himself or someone else. Just like the Dragon trip to NC...alot of subaru drivers know what i'm talking about. 2 years ago, 1 accident....last year..about a whole helluvalla lot more than 1....ppl need to know there is a time and place to be 'fast and furious'

Hey guys, I'm guessing that the guy in the grey S2000 was one of the guys I was with. I wasn't given names or tag numbers, but am only guessing. We were coming back from lunch and he took a wrong turn off the main road and onto some "side street". It went away from the main road and maybe through some parking lots? I don't know, I lost sight of him for a bit. Anyway, we all drove slowly in and out, but I think he just got lost off the main road and was catching up with us. Not a good excuse I know, but it wasn't done to be "hot rodding" or anything, he just took a wrong turn.
If it's who I think it was, (it wasn't OversteerS2K), then I'll talk to him, but trust me, he wasn't trying to cause trouble and is a very nice person. He wants to do the next event at the Florida Fairgrounds and I hope he's still welcome to.
Thanks,
Dave

not to mention that the fairgrounds is probably the easiest place for ALOT of ppl to get to in the tampa/clearwater/st. pete area. I hate getting up at the ass crack of dawn, but getting up at the ass crack of dawn and then driving an hour sucks even more.

Copied from www.TBAS2K.com.
As a reminder, when going to any of these autocross events, please watch your speed and etiquette. While on the property where the autocross is being conducted, be civil. We have gotten complaints about our group two out of the two times we've gone for excessive speeds. It really doesn't make us look good. If we want to go fast, take it out of the sponsored event area, as they work hard to get places lined up to allow cars to drive fast under supervised/safe conditions. If you want to race/drive fast in the event area, pay the money and do the autocross. I'd like for this to not happen again and have them ban the whole lot of us.
You'd think after eight plus laps of throwing your car around cones that it would be out of your system. I hope these two get banned from future events since they are not just endangering themselves and others but the fairground event itself. I love the damned fairground events!
