So I decide to bring my broken motor out for a couple runs to see how my new clutch will hold up.
After a decent wait, aprx. 25 mins before I could stage up, Im next to a blue 94ish Ranger/S10. We stage. Light turns, boom. I bring it out the hole with the spinning fury of an open diff and 150ft/lbs@3500rpm, nasty. No traction, I try to feather the pedal to no avail, he gains 2 cars on me before I catch, finally. I throw 2nd, boom, traction loss for just a second, hook. pulling... gap now just over a car, third, slight slip, great grip car pulled JUST behind him before we creep past the lights.
Barely lost.
I pull over the side to raise the boost from 6psi to test out a lil' higher. He rides up next to me and asks what I ran. 15.81 I replied. He said he ran a 15.4?(I think) but he had 0 traction, "Can't hook on this track". He told me he ran a 14.6 the night before. I think Im goin to try T&T thursday @9psi. ;)
Really nice guy, later sat. met up with him at the rices out to da chapel.
1320 isn't too bad, cept lack of traction. My next run I was against a monster hatchback he managed a 16 something... I managed another 15.81, this time I didn't have my girl in the car with me, I still had no traction, but down the line in 3rd gear @4krpm my car started bogging. I lowered the fuel down on the SAFC and it hasn't done it anymore... weird non-the-less.
I really feel I lost a full second+ with the traction not being there. Im going to get a set of DR's on the front and see if that helps.

i couldve sworn i saw your car on fowler by the burger king parking lot (saturday night)
you are only running high 15's with a turbo setup?
isn't this reason enough for you to ditch the d-series and stop riding on the pink elephant?

One of the reasons why I don't even bother with 1320... no track prep. I would probably only get 2.1-2.2 60's. Probably only run 12.8's or 12.9's due to spinning.
your runing high 15's on a turbo???I run mid.-low 15's on my N/A and Im not even close to done with it talk to taylor or john about having your car dyno'd at SS even with traction loss you still should be running much better numbers than that...

I think my problem lies in my launching, none of you except for DinoZ have any clue what 150ft/lbs. of torque before 4krpm does to a launch. Im slowly trying to learn how to control an OPEN DIFF FWD car from a stop.

The sunbird has more low end torque than that on an open diff and i pull 2.1 sixty foots in it. Thats with rotted out shocks and way to much weight transfer. You just need to practice.
Cronic
04-08-2003, 11:27 AM
You have a sunbird putting down 150wtq? massive. ;)
My car is also not very heavy in the front.
Before T&T Im gonna drop the front end a couple in.
lower the pressure and see if I can't get some decent times. I'll be happy with a 14.8@6psi. Altho I raised to boost to 7 yesterday, so I may just go with it at that.

Ya know, at first I was fine with you being a fucking idiot to everyone here, and people were always talking shit about you. I've never said anything negative to you or about your car. Yet you sit here and talk shit about my engine like I care that you car runs better in the 1/4 then mine does. Dog, put me on ignore, don't fucking reply to my posts anymore, your useless chattering does nothing but piss me and others off. STFU.
PS. My lowly D series motor kept up with Dino, with, newer GT's, RSX-s', etc... bout the only fucking stock cars I lose to on the road are one's with real HP, IE: 350ci+
Fuck off.

I have to say that he did keep up with me... although I was in the wrong gear, but none the less, he held his own and did very well! Cronic gets two thumbs up from the judges!! :D

Granted, he was in 3rd and not in his power band. @ 60mph. I was in 2nd and didn't catch the 3rd gear. We rolled until 80mph where I then missed my shift because Im such an awesome driver. ;)
Dino's car would've owned my 130mph 3rd gear.
Sorry to keep bringing up your car Dino, but people like this fuck piss me off. Your one of the few people who've seen my car run from a roll that are actually fast.

I in no way beat him.
I stayed at his door until I missed my shift, thereafter he pulled me like a Great Dane would pull a mini-poodle.
Had I NOT missed the shift he would've still pulled me. With those gears I had no power until 100mph.
1st: 40mph, 2nd: 80, 3rd: 130ish, 4th? 5th?

I just went to www.mustangworks.com/analyzer and pluged in my weight(2715)/time/mph to theird hp calculator, and it seems to be pretty close.
I made 148whp on the dyno, this thing says peak hp: 135, avg: 181. Wtf is average?

I think I saw your car there, just work on your launching and youll get there, doesnt help there was almost no traction there though.

I just want to see a 14 damnit!
heh... 15's suck.
Chris
04-08-2003, 04:41 PM
That's OK, on my mustang it showed like 362 peak and 402 average? I think the powere added (s/C) was messing with the numbers.
Cronic
04-08-2003, 04:44 PM
Well at my current power level (148whp) I should be running low 15's. Then again, that was at like 7psi, and my motor is fucked. *shrug*

Get drag radials and crazy stiff rear shocks. Thats what i plan on doing to the sunbird. And if i go out to the track again before the shocks ill just shove some blocks of wood between the back axle and the chassy.
That my friend, is how you "GetrDun"

Balls to the wall gentlemen. I'll raise the boost and drop the FUCK outa the front end. ;)

95mph isn't bad....shit I trapped 98 at my last time at the track. But, you are taking a big bite trying to run with an SS or a Z-28 from a roll. Now, at the track the mph is def. less important. ;)

i wouldn't mind trying my luck with your beastly 150ft/lbs of ground pounding torque. From a stop or a roll you choose. Let me know :)
