loren...and anyone else familiar with miatas...what can be done to the car so that it still remains in the stock class...
ie wheels, struts, springs...etc.
what can be done, what can't be done.

anything that can be done to any other car and still remain in the stock class. Come on... a rulebook is 15.00..... you've got those expensive volk's... I know you can scrape together 15 bucks....

But, since you're asking about a Miata...
Of all of the things you CAN do in stock class, here's what you SHOULD do to a Miata to be competitive:
Slightly larger front swaybar (depends on the specific model as the rear bars are different, also depends on your driving style... some go with the biggest front bar they can get)
Lightest wheels that are "correct" for your model. (diameter and width that was available from the factory and offset within .25")
A good cat-back exhaust.
Good adjustable shocks (Koni is the perennial favorite, but KYB is gaining popularity)
Precision alignment with as much camber as you can get. (and a fair amount of front toe-out... but not if you drive it on the street)
Glue. (okay, Hoosiers. Same thing)
That's about it. Just add driver.
