What to do to tranny
dont constantly beat on it, replace the tranny fluid with bg syncroshift, redline, or other good quality tranny fluid, people have their own preferences on it so you just gotta decide for yourself. if the tranny takes a shit, talk to lancerman.

there are alot of people to work on your tranny it depends on how much downtime you can afford, how much you have to spend etc etc
talk to lancerman if you want a smooth shifting tranny for a great price with minimal downtime depending on his schedule(he is a very busy man)
also try www.teamrip.com
www.shepracing.com
these places cost alot more and not sure of turnaround but i hear tre is quite a few weeks on turnaround

heres another option for you, ship the transmission out to john and ming at TRE (team rip engineering) in kalamazoo michigan
i have a 97 gst, and my 4th gear gernaded on me, so i shipped it to them,
had heavy duty syncrhos put in, a heavy duty 3rd and 4th gear set put in, steel shift rails (to replace to britle as hell cast iron stock ones WHICH EASILY BREAK)
they produce simply AWESOME tranny's i've had my tranny back from them for a month or so now and it shifts smooth as hell and i'm more confident racing my car at the track knowing my car will take the abuse much better now.
their website is
www.teamrip.com
check it out its definately worth it

I would get urethane motor mounts(solid, not inserts), good shocks and a quaife diff. And if you can afford it urethane suspension bushings. That should hold a good amount of power. I don't really think spending $2000+ on a transmission is gonna help you if you have bad wheel hop.
