I might be going to 1320 tonight, want to see what the 280 turbo runs mostly stock (9psi+3" exhaust).

Ive only "raced", I use that term losely... FWD cars. I would like to know what to look for and watchout for....

Thanks

i dunno about the 280.. but the mach 1 needed a 2K launch.. when spinning stopped floor it all the way and grab for second real quick.

Well the 280 has boost, and much less whp then your car has. I'll try a 3k launch and go from there, I was more worried about the back end sliding around or something crazy. =P

nah.. you should be fine.. launch about 3.. if it bogs too much.. go higher.. you'll find the sweet spot.. launching with boost you can sometimes go a little higher to build a bit of boost for off theline..

Yeah, with the Civic I let it rev to 6k, drop it down and then back up, until the last yellow, then I let it die down to 3k for a good off the line boost. Unfortunatly I have POS tires... I spin so much it's horrible.
Not to mention the clutch is shot, so trying to grab second just doesn't happen.

Since your car config is close to mine, here is what I do.

I launch at about 4K. Its high enough to allow me to boost quickly and have a decent amount of power at hand, but not too high to where the engine will overpower the clutch and never catch.

i drove my friends 280zx Turbo at sunshine one night, i had 1.9 launches from 5k and feathering it out.

1.79 60' @ Bradenton, dumping the clutch at 3k, and hole shot with nitrous fully engaged, planting over 500 ftlbs of torque to the pavement. ---> Nitto 555Rs

Good luck to ya! :D

hmm, i come out of the hole at 4k with a solid 250 ft/lb of tq hitting the pavement and cutting 1.79 60s on 17in 555r's.

weird....

thats cool, im still cuttin 1.8 on shitty street tires, go me :D if i start making more power i can probably pull a low 1.7 on them. if i actually launch at 5500 like i should i think i can pull a high 1.7, but im afraid of being at the track and breaking an axle or my driveshaft.
